Childhood with a "snowfield"

Verkin Eduard Nikolayevich was born in Vorkuta in May 1975. The writer's father is a miner, his mother is a pharmacist. As the author himself recalls, in the kindergarten they often loved each other to scare horror stories about the terrible snowball that kidnaps children. One told with horror how a snowman dragged a dog, another saw him in a barn. And the third boy had an incredible story about how an acquaintance went to the snowstorm in the store and did not return - he took the snowball. School years

School, as the author tells about himself, was the most ordinary, average. Terrible stories and snowfields are in the past. Ten years - one boredom. Prior to the seventh grade he studied under the strict control of his parents, which could not but affect the learning process - honorary diplomas, victories in olympiads, excellent marks. In high school he studied as well, but it required additional mental efforts. This affected the performance, as a result - a few triples in the certificate.

Work days

Since he did not enter the institute after school, he had to go to work. It was him that made him think. As the writer himself says, he became interested in learning further. And in 1993 Verkin Edward entered the university in Syktyvkar without problems. Studied in parallel at two faculties: on the legal and on the historical.

Until 1999, after studying, he worked as a teacher in Vorkuta in one of the universities. It was at this time that he began to study literature and was going to study at the Literary Institute. In 2003, after finishing the course, he begins to write. Today he is a well-known author of numerous children's books, a member of the Writers' Union. Married, has a son.

Attempt at writing

The first work worthy of attention, Verkin Eduard considers the contest work dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the victory in the Second World War. She took no place, but was printed in one of the newspapers and brought the author a small but first fee.

He wrote constantly, in the evenings, after work - unloved and unpromising. The author himself jokes that in the city of endless nights and the same endless days with the sun, all conditions are created to invent your own world.

The first novel

A book from childhood

Verkin Edward recalls how at school they were forced to read the biographies of young heroes. Even called classes in their honor. But they were not interested in learning, they were bored, although with an excess. Few of the students took it seriously. But these teenagers were real heroes. So one of the pioneer heroes, Leon Golikov, somehow "did not catch".

As an adult, Edward came across documents that told him about him. And he imagined a sixteen-year-old boy taking part in battles. On account of a large number of killed fascists, the bridges undermined by him, the captured general. And the author decided that such exploits should be written.

After the war, they began writing about heroes, looking for materials and photographs. It turned out that Lyonina was not at all. Then they turned to the mother of the hero. She told me that he and his sister had almost the same face. My sister was dressed, hanged the gun on her neck and photographed. So it happened that in the photo the hero-pioneer with burning eyes is a disguised girl.

Many years later they found a real photograph. But by that time all the monuments were made with a photo of the sister. So the story was born. The main character of the Cloud Regiment tells everyone that he can not be photographed and impossible to kill. He is invulnerable. But somehow it is given to make a photo, and before the hero's death countdown begins.

Roman brings up quite serious topics. In the book there are hard for the child's psyche scenes that can not be circumvented. Therefore, the author had to soften the details. Books are seldom written easily, but the "Cloud Regiment" was created in four months.

The heroes of the novel get to a rural artist who foresees the future. He brings his vision to the canvas, which he calls the "Cloud Regiment". Edward Verkin says that the prototype of the artist is a real person. He lived in the village and, when he died, the residents cut one of his paintings into pieces and carried them home.

In those days there were no photographers in the villages, and he was often approached with requests to write a portrait or to capture a wedding. Good by nature, Yefim Chestnyakov, the village boy, painted asterisks. Here are those whom he gave with asterisks, everyone returned from the war with real awards. These are the real stories formed the basis of the book "Cloud Regiment".

How are books born?

With each child in the first years of life there is a great many stories: scary and funny, ridiculous and funny. Most of his stories, Edward says, happened to him as a child. As soon as he started composing, Eduard Verkin remembers, the books did not work out very well. And I decided to write about my grandmother somehow. A simple story, the grandmother goes to a church holiday with her dog in the cemetery and cleans the graves. He remembers all the good that a man has done to her. And then he remembers something bad and tears the flowers from the grave. Thus, it appears on the grave of her husband, who died at the front.

As the author says, the story "Star City" turned out. And since then, he knows what happened - what not. What will be claimed by young readers, that will not go. Perhaps, therefore, his books adolescents consider one of the most beloved, because he knows his reader.
