In the Moscow region in the Leninsky district is located Khovanskoye cemetery, which adjoins the district, which is administered by the western administrative district of Moscow. The Khovansky cemetery is a part of the funeral bureau of SUE "Ritual" from its very founding, since 1972. The name is due to the village, located nearby, Nikolo-Khovansky. The landfill is divided into three large parts, with sizes of 88, 60 and 50 hectares, the names of the parts are respectively Central, North and West. In general, the cemetery is divided into burial grounds, there are more than 500 of them. Within the territory there is the Temple of the name of the Holy Prophet the Forerunner and the Baptist John, in addition, there are two chapels, the first is built in honor of the icon of Vladimir the Mother of God, and the second one is named after Marina the Reverend .

There is also a crematorium, which produces the burning of the dead daily, for urns with the ashes of the deceased there is a specially designated place for this - columbarium. The Khovansky cemetery provides cremation services not only for Moscow and the Moscow region, but also for other districts of the Russian Federation. Since 1997, the territory for Muslim burial places has been set aside, and with it the place for rituals (washings) according to the Muslim faith. Many famous people are buried in the cemetery. They left their bright trace in the history of the Motherland, they are heroes of the Second World War, directors, actors, journalists, poets, writers, athletes, composers, musicians, and, of course, politicians. Some graves have been turned into memorials and are open to tourists. There are also burials of members of the infamous Moscow criminal group "Orekhovskaya". It is also remarkable that all their monuments are turned away from the main avenue, which is located on a new site. Since the founding of the cemetery, the administration is located on the left side of the main entrance, there is an archive of registration of all graves since 1972. The rental of inventory has everything you need to care for graves. For the convenience of visitors, a scheme has been introduced, the Khovansky cemetery on it is divided not only into main parts, but also smaller sectors, all roads and paths are indicated. The territory is fenced with a fence, which reduces the risks of looting and vandalism.
