Genius and Scythian

There are such writers - who have gone down in the history of literature and generally in history - whose fate becomes a lesson and a reproach to the writers of all subsequent generations. How can and can not be in the life of a creative person, what is valuable, what is priceless and what is unthinkable in our - such different and similar - circumstances of the "Russian workers" - everything is evident from their completed biographies, but we accept studies with difficulty and continue Make your own mistakes.

In the book by Irina Vinokurova "Just a genius ... The fate of Nikolai Glazkov " the reader will find such a lesson.

Nikolai Glazkov is the famous creator of the term "samizdat", as well as the author of the quatrains, which in the sixties of the last century was known to absolutely everyone, who at any rate was interested in literature:

I look at the world from under the table,

The twentieth century is an extraordinary century.

Than a century is more interesting for a historian,

So for a contemporary sad!

He called himself a genius and a Scythian, led a life half-crazy, naturally, was not printed and was an idol for his literary environment and a legend - for everyone else.

"Glory to Glazkov brought his poems of the late 1930s and 1940s, who stood in direct opposition to the official canon," Irina Vinokurova writes. But it is good for the descendants to talk about the originality, opposition, avant-garde of the poet. And to him himself, in the room where only half the ceiling, where there is no heat, there is no food and there is nowhere to take all this, and no one wants to print the "wrong" verses, especially since they pay fees for them.

And so, pomoyavshis and despairing, the poet writes an "Explanatory note," saying in it about why he ties up with true creativity and begins to work for a semi-official:

... I've done enough for after,

For then, for ages, glory for;

And I want tangible benefits

He did not recognize the day from me.

Unfortunately (for his work, not for life), Nikolai Glazkov managed to carry out his task. It began to be published, but ... As David Samoilov writes in his "Diary": "You start to be afraid that his usual pose has ceased to be cunning, but has become kind. The stupid hood fell to his head. Poems (I read his books from the 56th to the 62nd year) are very bad, shallow "... That is, the poet died before death, the rejection of his credo was fatal for talent. And yet, foreseeing, probably ... Artist Alexei Bazlakov recalls in his memoirs Glazkov said to him: "The main thing is to be conscious of yourself and not lose," he said somehow hurriedly, fast-moving ... "(Arion, 1996 G., No. 2).

Keeping in mind the fate of Nikolai Glazkov , his willful decision, which the poet destroyed, I think of our writers who sell their pen, even if expensive, to certain forces, adjust themselves to the present moment, exchange their talent, creating an imperishable film, Then certain bonuses ... It seems, after all, life can not be a lesson for us. However, nevertheless, each of us once will have to admit that God is not a fraer, and his faithful companion-literature never forgives the creators of betrayal of her interests.
