The machine appeared only recently, but it was already able to show decent results. Confidently holds its position in the TOP of the best samples of Russian weapons and sniper rifle "Cord". Pedigree

The end of the 1980s is a difficult era in the life of our country. The spirit of impending changes was in the air, but a whole series of events did not allow to naively dream that the changes would turn life for the better. The coming collapse of the empire was not in anyone's doubt. There came the decline of an entire epoch, it was impossible not to notice it.

I could feel the breath of the wind of change and the underworld. Criminals protected themselves by storing weapons of all calibers. However, he always did it ... But in that turbulent time, the arms trade that was not controlled by the authorities took on a gigantic scale. In the conditions of corruption and lack of funding, the underworld armed itself better than the state-controlled siloviki. This is what prompted the development of a fundamentally new sniper rifle that could have penetrated not only the bulletproof vest and helmet, but also the car's reservation, and at a fairly respectable distance. Confirmed this need and the events in Chechnya - regular troops needed to update the arsenal no less than law enforcement.

At once several design bureaus took up the development. And soon a new weapon was created.

The good name Degtyarevsky Arms Factory has sounded again. Designers M. Yu. Kuchin, E. V. Zhuravlev, Yu. N. Ovchinnikov and V. I. Negrulenko developed and presented to experts a fundamentally new rifle, named "SVN-98". It was performed according to the scheme "Bull-Dad". This name indicates the location of the store behind the trigger. Such a scheme made it possible to considerably extend the barrel, while retaining the previous dimensions.

Already the first tests showed how powerful the effect was achieved by the Kovrov gunsmiths. The length of the new rifle was 1350 millimeters, 1000 of which were on the barrel.

Later, the rifle was renamed to the KSVK (Kovrov sniper rifle large-caliber). In 2004, she was waiting for another rebranding: under the new name of the ASVK, she was put into service in some units of the Russian army. But this name did not become final either. The large-caliber sniper rifle "Cord" - so now this weapon is called.

Return

Minimizing the impact was one of the main requirements for a new rifle. After all, it was assumed that the caliber of the ammunition would be large enough, and the killer range required considerable. Pay for such benefits, returns, as a rule, and serves, but the Degtyarev managed to reduce it to a minimum. One of the main factors can be safely called muzzle brake-compensator, worked on a special technology. According to the calculations of specialists, it was thanks to him that he managed to reduce the return by 2.5 times. An important role was played by the design of the barrel - in itself quite massive, it was worked on by a floating type. The butt of the butt was trimmed by special porous material, which cushions the shot.

Ammunition

At that time, the most powerful sniper rifle in Russia, "Cord" needed a solid patron. Its development was headed by VN Dvoryaninov. On the basis of a standard cartridge 12.7 x 108 mm, a special sniper cartridge 12.7CH was created. This munition is characterized by increased lethal force and shows better accuracy. In addition, for the rifle "Cord" can be used and regular cartridges BZT-44, BZT-44M, BZ with a bullet B-32. Here it should be noted that these cartridges do not give such high levels of accuracy at long distances.

Optics

The sniper rifle "Cord" can be equipped with additional optical instruments, including night sights. Most often, it uses 1P71 and 1NH111 (for shooting at night). It is also possible to install such sights as PSO-1, PIC 13x60, PIC 12x50. Of course, you can also carry out targeted shooting with the help of the "fly-fly" group.

Purpose

The main tasks to be performed by the sniper rifle of the ASVK "Kord" are the defeat of the enemy's manpower and light armor at a considerable distance. Tests showed that the enemy, dressed in a flak jacket, from this rifle can be hit from a distance of one and a half kilometers.

Device Features

Even when the large-caliber sniper rifle "Cord" was only being developed, a number of innovative and non-standard solutions were supposed. The floating barrel for this weapon is made by the method of cold forging. It is fixed cantilever, not touching any other part. The muzzle brake-compensator fulfills the functions of the flame arrester.

The Kord sniper rifle has a longitudinally sliding shutter, which makes it easy to work without detachment from the target. As with most analogs, the shooting mode is not provided with queues. The rigid box of a massive trunk and manual reloading contribute to the increase in accuracy of fire.

Even on the first versions of the rifle, the handle for loading was on the right. The fuse flag played and the role of the latch for the lid of the receiver box. The cartridges were fed from a removable box magazine with a capacity of 5 cartridges. Between the butt and the handle was located the reception chamber of the cartridge. Departure of shot cartridges occurred through the window to the right. In the neutral position, the window was covered with a lid to prevent foreign objects, moisture and dust from getting into it.

The modern sniper rifle "Cord" has a number of features in comparison with the first versions, but most of them are insignificant. Like ASVK, it has a handle for carrying, folding bipods are attached to a special rod on the bottom of the receiver.

Cord in Arms

As was originally intended, the first thing the Kord rifle fell into the hands of law enforcement. Currently, it is in service with some special forces units in Russia. The rifle also reached the military: scouts, motorized rifles, paratroopers. In the track record of this weapon - participation in both Chechen campaigns.
