In the course of various studies, it was found that sleep-grass has antiseptic and antifungal properties. It slows down breathing, lowers blood pressure and heart rate. Official medicine does not use this plant. However, in folk medicine it is used quite widely.

The name of the dream-grass speaks for itself. The broth from the lumbago is treated with headache, hysterical fits, neuroses and insomnia. External it is used for pain in the joints, fungal infections of the skin and scabies. Chinese folk medicine infusion of sleep-grass treats bacterial and amoebic dysentery.

It should be noted that the fresh plant is poisonous. When the juice comes into contact with the skin, a chemical burn of I-II degree occurs. Dried leaves of sleep-grass only after four to five months of storage lose their toxic effect. Dry them in a well-ventilated shaded area.

Since sleep-grass is a potent remedy, the plant should be used very carefully and in no case should it be used in pregnancy, hepatitis, pyelonephritis or gastritis.
