Sire Barristan from the series "Game of Thrones"

The action of the series "The Game of Thrones" takes place in a fantasy world, which was created by writer George R. R. Martin. Despite the cruelty of the multi-part history, it continues to attract more attention to itself, as directors, actors and screenwriters work hard on every detail. The world of the "Game of Thrones" is inhabited not only by real people, but also by fantastic creatures such as the White Walkers, Dragons and Children of the Forest. However, ordinary characters, without any abilities, are also interesting to viewers. One of the usual, but important for the history of the characters of the series is Sir Barristan Selmi.

Becoming a Knight

In the series, this hero was first introduced at the age of 61, but very many facts are known about his youth when he was just becoming a knight. The father of the boy was Sir Lionel Semley, from whom he inherited the craving for battles. His nickname "Brave" Selmi deserved at the age of ten, when he first took part in the tournament in Blackhawel. Because of his young age, the guy decided to keep his name secret, but after losing to Siru Dunan, also known as Prince Dragonfly, his identity was exposed. Despite the shameful defeat, many were shocked by the courage and strength of the boy, so they called him "Brave."

When Barristan was sixteen, he decided to take part in a tournament that took place in the Royal Harbor. Also young Sir Burristan again decided not to give his name. This time, he was able to defeat Prince Duncan and Duncan the High, who served as Lord of the Royal Guard Commander. As a reward, King Eyegon V Targarien decided to reward the guy and make him a knight.

Sire Barristan on the side of the Targariens

After the initiation into the knights, Selmi began to faithfully serve the Targarien family. On behalf of the king, Sir Burristan took part in several wars and helped to suppress many uprisings. It is known that more than once he often won battles, despite serious injuries. One such incident occurred during the Twilight's Rebellion, when the knight was able to save the king with an arrow in his chest. At twenty-three, Selmi was admitted to the Royal Guard, and a few years later he achieved the title of Lord Commander.

Service to Robert Baratone

When the rebellion began under the leadership of Robert Baratheon, Sir Barristan remained among the few devotees. "Game of Thrones" first showed Celmi as a faithful knight of Baratheon, but initially he was not. Even when the Targarienes' victory was impossible, he remained faithful to the oath he had given to the king.

After the battle on the Trident, Barristan was captured by Robert. When Baratheon learned of the bravery of the knight, he decided to pardon him. As it turned out, during the battle, Semley was able to hit the twelve warriors of Robert, but could not leave because of the wound. Then Baratheon sent to Sir Burristan a personal master, so that he healed the knight's wounds. Shortly after the victory, Baratheon returned Selmi the title of Lord of the Royal Guard Commander.

For many years Barristan served Robert and participated in all battles as the head of the king's army. He discouraged Baratheon from participating in the knightly tournament, thereby saving the king from shame. He also accompanied Robert while hunting a wild boar. When the king was seriously wounded and was dying, Sir Barristan guarded his chambers.

The Exile of Selmi

After the death of Robert Baratheon, Jeffrey Baratheon occupied the Iron Throne. Then the new ruler of Vesteras decided to send Barristan to rest. This order violated Selmi's oath to serve the king until death, so the knight did not want to leave his post, not even agreeing to a reward in the form of gold and his own lands. In addition, the King's order hinted at Syra's inability to perform his duties.

Then Joffrey ordered Barristan to be captured, but he killed two guards who attacked him, thereby proving his strength. After that he left the castle and went to the Deyeneris Targarien. In Quart he saved her life, than he achieved the position of the Mother of Dragons.

Death of the hero

Despite the fact that in the novels of George RR Martin Sire Barristan remains alive, the creators of the series decide to kill the hero. According to the multi-series, the knight dies at the hands of the Sons of the Harpy.

The sons of Harpy themselves were called the former slaves of Mierin. After Daineris freed all the slaves in the city, the gentlemen raised an uprising. During one of the riots, Barristan Selmi dies, who, before his death, managed to kill many of them.

In the book, he became the ruler of Miyerin, after Deyeneris went with the army to the Royal Harbor to regain the Iron Throne.
