Moscow, Chistye Prudy: sights, description

The famous Pure Ponds are rich and attractive not only with an amazing history, but also with their interesting constructions: theaters, restaurants, fitness clubs, cinemas, business centers and shops. Especially these places attract beautiful and convenient park areas for hiking.

Chistoprudny Boulevard from large transport highways is fenced off and is a quite quiet and cozy place for a relaxing holiday. And they can be rightfully proud of Moscow. Pure ponds, the sights, the names of which we will mention in this article, are quite interesting.

This corner of Moscow is an excellent resting place, where not only locals try to get to, but also numerous guests of the city. There is something to admire here: magnificent nature, monuments of culture. Even the name of this picturesque corner of the capital evokes pleasant associations.

Chistye Prudy (Moscow)

Attractions in this wonderful corner of the city are rich in its unique history. Of course, it's hard to believe, but once this place was a stinking, horrible puddle, contaminated with various wastes of meat trade. This is due to the fact that in the neighborhood (Myasnitskaya street) was located a huge number of meat shops.

For a long time already everything has changed: the associate of Peter I Alexander Menshikov in 1703 nearby purchased a small plot with a house. This place was ennobled by his order, and the pond was cleaned. Since then the pond has become a Clean Pond. And the more familiar name for today has come into use gradually. Hence, there is no cascade of ponds.

But Chistye Prudy became one of the favorite vacation spots for residents of the surrounding neighborhoods and other metropolitan areas and guests, which Moscow is enjoying.

Chistye Prudy: sights, description

This is an amazing region of Moscow, whose history is preserved not only in the annals and textbooks. Like a hundred and odd years ago, white swans swim on the mirror surface of the water, lovers and young mothers with strollers stroll along the alleys. Often you can see here and more mature couples walking along the avenues.

Like many years ago, lindens, willows, chestnuts are in blossom here. Even the new modern houses that appeared around the boulevard in recent years have merged into the ensemble and do not destroy the external habitual appearance of the quarters of antiquity, which is observed in many parts of the huge city of Moscow.

Clean ponds, whose sights are magnificent and beautiful, are very popular among tourists. One of the main advantages of the park is a magnificent building (d. 19a), built in 1912-14. It has a colonnade, stylized as antique. The building was built for the cinema "Colosseum" RI. Klein (the famous architect). However, after its reconstruction in the 70's it was transferred to the drama theater Sovremennik.

In the neighboring house (21), erected in the 1890s, there were literary meetings of N. Teleshov, in which M. Gorky, A. Chekhov, D. Mamin-Sibiryak, A. Kuprin, I. Bunin and other famous Writers and poets. Quite near this house (d.23) in 1920-34 lived the famous film director Sergei Eisenstein.

Monuments

It is unrepresentable without monuments to the great people established in different corners of the city, Moscow. Clean ponds, whose sights tell the history of the city, it is impossible to imagine without a monument to A. Griboyedov. The great Russian writer lived in 42 on Myasnitskaya Street and often strolled along the green cozy alleys of a still new boulevard. This monument was built in 1959.

There is also a monument erected in 1918 near the Myasnitsky Gate M. Bakunin (an ideologist of Russian anarchism). But not quite successfully executed sculpture was removed after the protest action of anarchists, who believe that such a monument offends the memory of their teacher.

Traditions

An amazing story is the city of Moscow, Chistye Prudy. The sights of the boulevard and its surroundings have their own history of formation and emergence. According to legend, this place, formerly called Pogany, is closely connected with the birth of the great city.

According to legend, here was a village that belonged to boyar Stepan Kuchka. He did not show respect to Prince Yu Dolgoruky who visited him and offended him, after which the prince ordered to kill the boyar, and the body to be thrown out. The legend says that it was after this that the reservoir began to bear the name Pogany.

There is one more assumption about the name. When the spread of Christianity began, pagan idols were destroyed and thrown into the water. And the word "pagan", in Latin paganus, and means "filthy." Hence the name Pogany Pond.

The most common version is the following. About it has already been said above. The pond was given its name due to the fact that garbage from meat slaughterhouses was drained here on Myasnitskaya Street. There are scientists who reject this version in connection with the fact that Myasnitskaya Sloboda was at a great distance from the pond (Sretenka Street).

It should also be recalled that in the days of Ivan the Terrible a terrible tragedy occurred in this place. In 1570, 120 boyars and servicemen were subjected to excruciating execution on charges of treason.

Formation of the boulevard

Many interesting historical events are concealed in Moscow. Clean ponds, whose attractions can tell a lot about the events taking place here in ancient times, arose thanks to the dam. In those days here along the walls of the White city the Rachki River flowed (the tributary of the Yauza River). This river has not existed for a long time, and today the pond uses water from the aqueduct.

And then the pond was a favorite place among the townspeople. Ride here in the summer on boats, and in winter on skates.
