Sheep made of polymer clay. How to make a blind?

Not so long ago, a new material appeared on the needlework market, which is called polymer clay. By tactile sensations, it is somewhat reminiscent of plasticine. But unlike plasticine, polymer clay can be baked, and then it will become firm and flexible. Plasticine will always be soft. In this article, you will learn about how a lamb made of polymer clay is molded .

Flat blank for a magnet on a refrigerator or brooch

So, we're making a lamb of polymer clay. It is very easy to mold a sheep in the form of a flat workpiece. To do this, first prepare the base: roll out a flat cake from a clay ball. Then stick the muzzle on it. Stick your eyes from the black clay. The legs can be made either from clay, or from a chain with beads. Do not forget to stick the tail. Then saddle the wool of your sheep. After you've made a wool blanket, do not forget to make two small pieces of polymer clay ears.

How can you make wool for a lamb?

Wool can be made in different ways. For example, to blind many small balls and stick them to the base. To make the balls are textured, take a toothpick or awl and loosen the balls in circular motions. It's long, but the look of your lamb will change!

The second way to make wool for lamb is that you first mold the sausage from the polymer clay, and then cut into small circles. You can cut the sausage either after baking, or before. If you cut the sausage after baking, the circles will turn out to be more even, but they will be harder to stick to the body of the lamb. If you cut raw sausage, be careful, as it can easily be wrinkled. To make the sausage more firm, you can put it for half an hour in the fridge or for about five minutes in the freezer.

The third way is to use a special metal syringe for the polymer clay - an extruder. You squeeze out a long thin sausage and twist it into several spirals. Then the resulting spirals stick to the sheep. As you can see, a flat sheep made of polymer clay with their own hands is molded very, very simply. You will need a minimum of effort and very little time.

3D figure

It is more difficult to compact a lamb made of polymer clay. And the materials you need to spend more. First of all, decide whether your sheep from polymer clay will be hollow or not. If you want to create a very large figure, then first make a frame of wire and foil. Wire is better to take copper or brass, as it is stronger than aluminum. Once you make the base, then start gently to cover it. Be careful not to bend the wire. Once you have finished, do not forget to make a small hole in the lamb so that when heated in aerogril it does not deteriorate.

If you want a polymer clay lamb not to be hollow, then blindly first the body without wool. Then bake and, if there are cracks, grease them with clay. Then the second coat blend the sheep's hair. As a rule, wool in bulk billets is molded from balls, and the texture is attached to an awl or toothpick. If necessary, you can use the stack.

Materials and Tools

To the lamb made of polymer clay was beautiful, use only high-quality materials. To make the texture you can use a needle, an awl or a toothpick. To stick the wool to the already baked preform, you can take a special transparent gel.

If you want to make lamb wool from an extruder, then it's better to take the tool more expensively. It is desirable that the extruder be screw-driven. In this case it will be very easy to squeeze out sausages from it. To make flat workpieces quickly and easily, you can buy a special rolling machine for working with clay. If you do not want to spend money on the machine, you can roll out clay and a simple roller. True, it will take more time.

The best polymer clay is Fimo or Cernit. But inexpensive clay is also suitable for molding lambs. You can take "Artifact", "Flower" or "Sonnet". For children, it is better to buy clay softer that it is easy to crush and roll out.

Precautionary measures

When the sheep made of polymer clay will already be in the aerogrill, go to the oven, you must correctly set the temperature. Very often the ovens overestimate it. Therefore, use a special thermometer for polymer clay.

If you accidentally exceed the temperature, the polymer clay lamb can burn. To prevent this from happening, be sure to check the presence of smoke from time to time. If there is no smoke, then everything is in order.

Bulk sheep should be baked for at least half an hour, and flat - from fifteen to forty minutes. After the lamb from the polymer clay is baked, be sure to let it cool down. Do not remove it from the oven. Otherwise, your product may break or crack.
