Sailing fish - ocean zipper

Sailfish is a two-meter giant, inhabiting the Atlantic, and also in the Indo-Pacific waters. His existence is comfortable and serene. It is not necessary to get food for it, since sardines, mackerel and mackerel, which it feeds on - fish are gregarious, live in abundance and in fact itself flies into the mouth of a sailboat. Nevertheless, the sailboat, if desired, could catch up with any fish, especially without straining, since the speed of movement is impressive: about a hundred kilometers per hour. Maybe he needs this speed to escape from danger? But the sailfish is a fish that has no enemies, it somehow happened that it is too tough for ocean predators, too large.

So the question arises: why this fish is so high dynamics? Perhaps the absence of an air bubble and buoyancy in a negative sense caused a high speed of the sailboat, otherwise it would slowly sink to the bottom. Lightning advance in the thickness of ocean waters is strengthened, among other things, also by considerable turbulence, arising from a number of specific protrusions on the sides that hold water. Thus, a thin water film forms on the sides of the sailboat.

Such a layer ensures even easier movement of the fish. The tail fin, which the sailfish uses, on the contrary, is not adapted for superfast swimming, it is narrow and small in area. And yet the tail of the sailboat fulfills its task - due to frequent fluctuations. High speed under water can be effective only in a straight line for any fish, not just a sailboat. Even a slight turn or turn causes a long body to drift, the speed drops sharply, and you have to maneuver convulsively to keep the direction of the movement.

The sailboat for such a case has a genetic mechanism for maintaining the balance. When the fish-sailboat takes a course, the dorsal fin automatically fits into a special hollow on the back and is there while moving in a straight line. And on the bend the sailboat sharply raises the dorsal fin, which extinguishes the beginning drift, and the fish continues to move as if nothing had happened. Due to its activity and high-speed movement, the sailing fish is considered the best object for catching from the boat. No wonder the writer E. Hemingway spent half his life with a spinning in his hand, catching a sailboat. He took out his Pilar at dawn, departed from the coasts of Cuba for two or three kilometers into the open ocean and began a multi-day hunt for the fastest ocean fish, lightning fish.

It happened that the forests could not stand if a large specimen came across, because an adult sailing ship could be up to three and a half meters in length and weighing 70-80 kilograms. Willy-nilly you will recall E. Hemingway's novel "The Old Man and the Sea". The hunt for the sailboat was full of drama and for the author of the immortal work. Now the writer has many followers who want to go fishing from a boat or a yacht. And the fish-sailfish, the photo of which you see, would be seriously damaged if it were not forbidden to catch it in the legislative order. Catching it is allowed, but it is necessary to release - after photographing, of course.
