Rhetoric is the art and science of the word

The ability to convincingly expound your thoughts, persuade and persuade a large audience was always considered a very valuable quality for a person. Success in many spheres of activity depends on the ability to communicate with people. For some, this ability is inherent in their nature - they are considered natural speakers. Others have to learn it, especially if it requires a job or personal goals.

There is even a whole science called rhetoric. This is a scientific discipline that studies the patterns of formation, perception and transmission of quality speech and good text. In ancient times this term was used only in its direct meaning. It was believed that rhetoric - this oratory, the ability to perform excellently in public. Later this concept expanded and began to imply the skill and theory of influential, expedient, harmonizing speech.

The term itself came into Russian from Greek. The most suitable synonyms for him will be "eloquence" and "oratory." Even at the beginning of the emergence of this discipline, two approaches to the perception of oratory were clearly manifested. Supporters of the first direction believed that rhetoric is the mastery of convincing. They believed that the main thing in eloquence is the content, the idea. A vivid example is the rhetoric of Aristotle. In this flow, a good speech was that which brings effect, convinces, conquers recognition (sympathy, sympathy, consent) of the audience and encourages certain actions.

Others also focused on the style and form of speech. For them, rhetoric was simply an art of decorating speech. The famous representative and founder of this school is the ancient rhetorician Isocrates. Adherents of this direction under a good speech meant a lush, decorated speech, built according to all the rules of aesthetics. Conviction here also influenced the evaluation of the syllable, but was secondary and by no means the only criterion.

Modern neotritic has become a harmonious union of the "literary" and "logical" schools. The results obtained in the "literary" direction are used to this day. Moreover, the aesthetic qualities of speech have a priority for some investigators of rhetoric. Nevertheless, for most, logic still dominates.

Nowadays, oratory is traditionally divided into two divisions: private and general rhetoric. Private emphasizes the features of certain types of speech communication, related to the functions of speech, communication conditions and various spheres of human activity. The general rhetoric is the science of rules and universal principles for constructing quality, good speech that do not depend on a specific area of verbal communication.

Traditionally, art is beautiful and convincing to talk about future lawyers and businessmen being trained in universities. However, if a person works in another sphere, nothing hinders finding free time and doing self-education. Business rhetoric, one of the most practical subsections of this interesting science, is surely useful in life for each one of us, special in this difficult time.
