Review of the article: how to prepare correctly?

Before publication in various scientific journals, the article must be reviewed. This is an important stage in the process of selecting and approving articles for the press. Often, together with a review can request an extract with the recommendation of the article for publication from the minutes of the meeting of the department. Therefore, the work of the reviewer should be approached very responsibly.

What is a review of the article?

Let us consider this in more detail. First, you need to understand what a review of a scientific article is. Despite some blurring of the term, the meaning of this procedure is quite simple. In the process of reviewing the article is subjected to a thorough check from the point of view of registration, that is, the structure, availability of necessary elements, the amount of work, the correctness of the design of links, bibliographic data and content where the consistency of information, its reliability and validity is assessed. However, for the apparent simplicity of the process at the first glance, there is the subjective opinion of the reviewer. For this reason, when preparing an article for printing, one should take into account not only objective and formal requirements, but also try to see the article from the point of view of the reviewer himself. In addition, one should have a clear idea of what must necessarily be reflected and how the review of the article is formalized. This information may be needed not only when working on an article, but also when preparing a response to an article by your colleague.

Review to the article is a special document, compiled on behalf of the reviewer, who can be a person with a scientific title and academic degree in the specialty corresponding to the topic of scientific work. The reviewer analyzes the peer-reviewed text, assesses the eligibility and content criteria, that is, assesses its scope, verifies the correctness of the annotation, design of bibliographic references, selection of keywords, establishes the relevance of the topic of specialization of the scientific publication. The reviewer also assesses the novelty, significance, scientific value of your article and draws conclusions about the feasibility of publication in a scientific publication or about the need for its revision in accordance with the noted remarks. The finalized review of the article is signed by the reviewer and then certified by the seal of the organization in which the reviewer works. A copy sent by e-mail is not considered a full-fledged document, for this reason it is necessary to send the original of the review by mail to the editorial office of the journal.

How is it formalized?

The review of the article, like the application for publication and the article itself, must be formalized according to strictly defined rules. Reviewing the article is an obligatory procedure, serving as a sort of filter for the material coming to the editorial office. Often it depends on this fact, whether the material will be published or not. The review should include the following information: the full name of the scientific work, the author's last name, first name, patronymic, position, brief description of the problem that was touched upon, the relevance of the study, the most important aspects disclosed in the paper, the recommendation for printing an article in a scientific journal, , Patron surname of the reviewer, his place of work, academic title, academic degree, position, signature.

The optimal volume of the review should be about three and a half or four thousand characters, taking into account the gaps, that is, about 1.5-2 pages in the .doc format with 12 pt font Times New Roman. To give it a stylistic completeness, it is recommended to use specialized turnovers and expressions that will emphasize the high professional level and literacy of the peer review.
