Geography

In the village of Orekhovo (Leningrad region) there are two lakes.

History

The present settlement of Orekhovo (Leningrad region) was formerly part of the Vyborg gubernia, located on the territory of Finland. Until 1939, it was the village of Raasuli in the rural district of Rautu. The town of Raasuli was a border town. He was at the top of the ridge, from where a magnificent panorama of the eastern region of the Karelian Isthmus was opening. From here one could see even the shores of Ladoga and the smoke of steamers on the lake. Not far from the modern village of Orekhovo (Leningrad region) is Kivi-Surja. Life of the village of Raasuli

Numerous carts and carts with various consignments intended for trade daily passed from Finland to St. Petersburg near the village of Raasuli. 30.11.1939, the village of Raasuli was the first to encounter hostilities. As a result of the artillery shelling carried out by Soviet troops, the houses in it burned. Fortunately, the civilian population did not suffer. It has already been evacuated. After a short skirmish, Raasuli occupied parts of the Red Army.

09/01/1941 the village was again recaptured by Finnish troops. And in 1944, Soviet power was already established in Raasuli. On the territory of the village there was a subsidiary farm belonging to the Leningrad plant "Komsomolka".

As a result of the renaming company, which took place in 1947-48, Raasuli became Orekhovo. Most likely, the authors of this name pay attention to the thickets of hazel trees that were nearby. This renaming was fixed by the Decree of the Presidium of the RSFSR of 13.01.1949.
