Reservoirs of Russia - Pastor Lake: description, features, photo

One of the most unusual places in Russia is the Pastor's Lake. It is interesting not only for its beauty, but for its origin. Despite its small size, the reservoir has a rather interesting and rich history. In the XIX century, near the lake, the factory of the Olkhin family was located, which produced the best paper products in our country, which was sold not only in Russia and CIS countries, but also in Europe. Its owners have repeatedly been awarded the highest awards for their labors. The enterprise worked on the water that came from the local reservoir. According to local legends, this name acquired because of the fact that once in this area lived a pastor who came from Switzerland.

Location and natural features

In the settlement Gardening Vsevolozhsk district of the Leningrad region is Pastoral Lake (on the map below it can be seen clearly). Its dimensions are very small. The length of the reservoir is no more than 1 km, and the width is about 250 m. In some areas it is shallow enough, the depth does not exceed several meters. In the most in-depth places there are up to 6 m.

The bottom of the lake is covered with peat and silt. Due to the presence of peat in it, the water takes on a reddish tinge. Through the entire lake is a stream, which has a similar name Pastor. It is replenished due to rain and other precipitation. Pastor's lake, like many others, was created in a natural way. Food is also provided by peat keys.

Pastor's lake is surrounded by forests from all sides. They are famous for the fact that different sporting events take place there at different times of the year.

Beaches on the lake

The main attraction of the lake are the beaches, as they existed with the time of children's camps. Sandy are on the southern and eastern sides. But on a clear, sunny day, the catch may not be very successful. It is worth noting that in the evening the catfish approaches closer to the shore, and, sitting near the water, you can hear a characteristic sound, similar to gurgling.
