Replacement of bearing bearings by own hands

At the moment, the most popular type of running gear is the McPherson suspension. It is present on all modern cars, including on domestic ones. A vivid example is the VAZ of the "ninth" family. However, no matter what machine this suspension is, the most vulnerable link will be the bearing bearing. Symptom, which indicates the need for its replacement, is a characteristic knock near the wheel arches of the car. If you have such signs, you just need to replace the bearings . In today's article, we will try to describe in detail the process of installing this part.

How is the bearing replaced?

"Opel" and many other foreign cars have a similar principle of replacement of this part. Therefore, the instructions given below will be suitable for most modern cars.

So, let's get to work. To start, we unscrew the hub nut securing the CV joint to the hub. To do this, take the jack and lift it. If necessary (when the wheel is scrolling), fix the brake pedal with a heavy object or ask a friend to push it against the stop. Then remove the wheel itself. Next, take out the cotter pin, untwist the nut and disconnect the steering fist from the bipod. When removing the ball pin, never use a hammer. This process is carried out using a special puller. You can buy it at any specialized store. So, insert the puller and scroll it until the bipod and the steering fist disconnect.

Now we pick up the mount and carefully set the brake pads. Do not use the disc as a support, since the mount simply deforms it. Then untwist the fixing nuts and take out the ball joint. This is also done with a special puller. After this, we take the device with hooks and tighten the spring.

Dismantle the brake pads by mounting, taking care. When squeezing, do not use the brake disc as a support for the lever , as it is sufficiently fragile. After that, simply unscrew the fixing bolts. If necessary, place a coarse-grained sandpaper. But this is not the end of the bearing replacement. Now untwist the stem nut. This is done with a rack-wrench. By its design, it is 2 metal tubes inserted into each other. The first part, located inside the tool, holds the groove, and the second one untwists the stem nut. Then the old bearing can be easily removed. Further, the replacement of the supporting bearings is accompanied by the installation of new parts. The assembly is done in the reverse order.

After that, we can assume that the replacement of the supporting bearings is completed. However, after these works, you still have to pump the brake pedal, so that the pads normally lie down to the disk.

Replacement of the bearing of the front pillar is similar to the installation of the rear, so that this instruction can be used for any direction and direction.
