There are wonderful forest dwellers, created by nature and bringing to fans of "quiet hunting" a lot of joys. These are mushrooms. And one of the most widespread and high-quality are the boletus.

The surest scientific name of this fungus is the red aspen. Although he also has many local folk names, the most famous among them is the red-head, or red mushroom. The name is due to its main feature - a peculiar coloration of the cap. By the way, many people of the boletus do not know, although there are certain signs of this fungus that do not allow confusing it with other numerous representatives of the plant kingdom.

From this article you can find out what a mushroom with a red hat represents, what features and features it has, where and at what time it grows.

Some interesting information about mushrooms

Curious facts about fungi are based on a person's knowledge of only a tenth of the properties of these amazing forest inhabitants:

  • On average, each fungus consists of approximately 90% of water.
  • There are flying varieties. These are biological microscopic species, for example, mold, which appears in such an easy way even on products.
  • Mycelium grows at a speed of not less than 10 centimeters in just 1 year.
  • Only one copy of the pale toadstool contains so much poison that can poison four people.
  • There is information that mushrooms grow beautifully on the territory of the former Chernobyl nuclear power plant, despite the high level of radiation.

And now we'll take a closer look at one of the interesting edible specimens. Podisinovik, photo and description of which you can see in our article, not in vain is considered one of the most delicious mushrooms.

Time and place of growth

The first mushrooms-boletus appear in June. Therefore, in some places they are traditionally called "kolosovikami" (as rye starts to rumble during this period). Undoubtedly, they can rightly be attributed and the first white mushrooms, and podberezoviki.

Most often this mushroom occurs with the name of a redhead boletus.

It grows mainly in mixed forests, and mycelium (mycorrhiza) is mostly connected with the aspen, so it is often found among them or nearby.

Also, they can often be found in young trees, in deciduous forests (especially birch forests) and in aspen. In a dry summer, a boar may grow in a more mature aspen. It occurs (including the red fungus), even in coniferous forests (for example, in pine forests). You can find it on the forest edges and in the fields abandoned, overgrown with trees and shrubs. And this fungus usually grows in groups.

In the world, the fungus is common throughout the Northern Hemisphere (temperate belt). There is a lot of growth in the North American, Central Europe, and they are less frequent in the mountains of Southern Europe.

Podisinovik: photo and description

The taste of the fungus does not depend on the color of the boletus. It is very pleasant in any form and rightfully takes 2nd place after the most famous white mushroom for its taste qualities.

The apothecary belongs to the genus Obabok, which is included in the family of painkillers. At all at them the leg or foot as though is covered by scales of a darkish color, and it is very well appreciable. A similar property of the legs are known and podberezoviki.

The color of the cap is one of the most important, but by no means the only sign that this fungus differs from others. In addition, the red-head is quite variable in its color. It does not always have a red color (red fungus). Most often found in the woods are boletus with brown hats, moreover, they resemble white mushrooms. There are in nature almost white and orange buffalo. The first are very rare and therefore listed in the Red Book of Russia.

Red mushroom

Often in the people it is called obobkom, aspen or chelyshem. It should be noted that all kinds of boletus are edible and very similar and tasty. They are used in cooking, frying, marinating and soup.

The cap of the boletus red in size can reach 30 centimeters in diameter. In form it is spherical in young fungi and pillow-like in more mature ones. The color of the latter varies from brick red to dark red.

Their tubular layer also varies with age: from white in young to gray-brown in mature mushrooms. The high leg of all thickens downwards. Mushroom flesh on the cut quickly enough turns blue and dyed violet.

Distinctive features of the boletus

The fungus immediately darkens on the cut or scrap: it first turns blue and then gets almost black. Many start-up mushroom pickers are alarming and in vain. On the contrary, this is one of the main signs confirming that this is the same - an edible mushroom with a red bonnet. And such a color change occurs in connection with the process of oxidation in the air of certain substances that are present in the boletus.

There are, of course, more mushrooms that have the same characteristics characteristic of the boar. Therefore, the fungus should be judged on several distinctive grounds.

Here are some that are characteristic of the boar:

  • Red, reddish or brown color of the cap;
  • Tubular bottom layer of the cap, usually light gray;
  • Leg with prominent dark "scales";
  • Blue, and then blacking slice.

Young and old mushrooms

A young red mushroom is very noticeable in the forest, but its peculiarity is that it is able to change its color according to the vegetation prevailing in the forest, the age and the species of the fungus itself. More mature boletus have a gray-brown bonnet, which becomes less bright and more like a bonnet of underarms.

Peculiar in form and young mushrooms. Their cap is neat, small and looks like a thimble on a finger on a large fleshy leg.

Both adults and young mushrooms are quite dense.

If, at the time of collection, the mushroom is found soft to the touch, it is better not to take it to the basket. It is an overripe and unusable specimen.

The main time for ripening of the boletus is August month, less often September and October.

Look great mushrooms with beautiful red-brown or orange hats in a filled up with various edible mushrooms basket. They are pleasant not only to eat, but also to collect.
