Jane Austen is peculiar to the special manner of writing, the peculiar refinement of the language, the original style - for which she is respected in literary circles. In this novel, the author was able to recreate the atmosphere of old England, with incredible love and sincerity to describe all the heroes of the novel. Some of them are funny, others are near and foolish, others are talented, but all of them are victims of prejudices prevailing in society. The author's merit is that to none of them during the reading does not penetrate dislike. All this served as the basis for some English and American directors to wish to create a movie based on this novel. And the actors chosen for the filming in these films had to play the roles in such a way that the images of the heroes and heroines created by the great writer were not affected.

The first adaptation of the novel - a feature film "Pride and Prejudice" (1940)

During the Second World War, American film director Robert Z. Leonard, in collaboration with the film company Metro-Golden-Meier, decided to film the film based on the popular novel in the United States of the English writer J. Austin "Pride and Prejudice." Actors to participate in the film were chosen as a result of the strictest casting, but the main roles were invited to the popular in those years, Lawrence Olivier and Greer Garson. No less famous are other actors: Anne Rutherford, Mary Baland, Maureen O'Sullivan, Edna Mae Oliver, Anne Rutherford, Edmund Gwann, Frida Ainscourt and others. In 1941 Robert Z. Leonard's film "Pride and Prejudice" at the Oscar ceremony received a prize in the nomination "The best work of the artist-director". The golden statuette was given to Paul Gresse and Cedric Gibbons.

Of particular interest is the eponymous television series, shot at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. During this period, the genre of telenovela was at the peak of popularity, and many filmmakers, using this, put the screen version of the classic novels. This series was the sixth film adaptation of the novel by writer Jane Austen. Filming of the picture was conducted in the UK, in the area described in the book. Thanks to the excellent cast and aspirations of the director, the show was a success. The TV channels, which demonstrated this series, immediately increased their rating by several steps. According to Russian television, the telenovela was on the First Channel of Public Television. And it is unlikely that there would be a family that in the evenings did not gather in front of the TV screens to watch the series "Pride and Warning." In 2005, English filmmaker Joe Wright decided to withdraw his version of the film based on the novel "Pride and Prejudice" by the famous novelist Jane Austen. Unlike the previous screen version, ie. TV series "Pride & Prejudice", this picture was to be a one-part full-length tape. As a result, a two-hour vivid film with rich decorations was produced with the participation of famous actors. As the performer of the main role, the inimitable Keira Knightley was invited. The film cost the creators 28 million dollars, and the world's box office amounted to an amount four times greater than was spent on shooting. The screenwriters are Deborah Moggak and Emma Thompson. Those who read the novel, as well as familiar with the previous screen versions, say that this is the most unfortunate of them, and that the writers have changed the plot beyond recognition. However, along with this opinion there are others. Since 2005, when the screenshots of the seventh screen adaptation of Jane Austen's novel, she has a million army of fans. And if the scenario of the film was criticized from time to time, no one had any claims to the correctness of the choice of the performers of the movie "Pride and Prejudice." Actors were able to best create images of heroes invented by the author. All of them were passionate about their game in this film and are grateful to the young director Joe Wright for the invitation, and on the set the friendly atmosphere always reigned.
