Praying mantis is an amazing sea predator
An aggressive hunter, a handsome, handsome, unique sight - all this is a mantis shrimp. Aquarists avoid starting it at home. Crayfish easily beat glass and destroy all living creatures in the neighborhood. There are a lot of rumors about their terrible claws. Is there a giant mantis cancer? How much a predator is dangerous for a person, where he lives and what he eats? Now we'll find out.
Habitat
The mantis shrimp, whose photo you can see, prefers the seabed of the tropical seas. Divers can observe them in coral reefs. All the time the cancer spends in the shelters of crevices or dug holes and creeps out only if it is hungry. Despite its meek name, these marine inhabitants are real predators. Their prey: shrimp, fish, sea crustaceans, crabs and mollusks. To break the protective shell, the mantis shrike throws the grasping claw forward with incredible speed (about the same as that of a bullet fired). Then the victim suffers and breaks the stones with force. Continues to torture the prey, until all of its insides get out. All his actions are unmistakable, in dark waters at the depths of the ocean he is perfectly oriented.
The manner of hunting
Cancer can hunt from the shelter, waiting for the prey passing by, or go out in search. He is able to capture a large fish, an octopus or cuttlefish. Sharp jerk by the tail allows it to fall forward with lightning speed and kill prey. During molting, these formidable hunters hide in their burrows, prudently laying the entrance with pebbles. At this time, the mantis shrimp sheds its shell and becomes dangerous to itself during hunting, as it can be injured by prey trapped in a claw. He has to wait a week until the new shell grows.
Unique sight of mantis cancer
The danger to humans is borne by the inhabitants of the coastal zones of tropical resorts. And despite their modest size (up to 18 cm), these animals can cause serious injuries and acute pain to a person. Of course, cancer primarily defends itself, so it is not worthwhile to touch it out of curiosity. Recognize such a violent aggressor can be an incredibly beautiful coloring and folded front claw claws, like all the known insect mantis.
