Pinworms, symptoms of enterobiasis

Parasitic worms helminths, or worms, cause helminthiases in the human body. There are many diseases of these, as there are many worms themselves. Depending on the parasites belonging to a particular species, helminthiases are divided into four groups: trematodoza, nematodoza, cestodoza and acanthocephalus.

So trematodes, or flukes, cause a person opisthorchiasis; Cestodes, or tapeworms - hymenolepiasis, diphyllobothriasis, echinococcosis, thienidosis; Nematodes, or roundworms - ankylostomiasis, ascariasis, trichinosis, trichocephalosis and enterobiosis.

The last disease is caused by pinworms. These are round small (not more than 1 cm long) worms that parasitize in the human intestine. They cause a helminthic disease, enterobiosis. In the evening or at night the female parasite crawls out of the anus and puts it in the folds of the skin that surrounds it, eggs. Ripen larvae in four to six hours and again enter the intestine. Combing the itchy place, the patient pollutes hands and underwear with these eggs. Fleeing from the bed during the harvest, they settle on nearby objects, on the mucous membranes of the mouth, nose, food. Also, from contaminated hands, they fall on food, in the mouth, and thence again into the intestines. Thus, the person around him infects himself. The claws of the pinworm live under the conditions favorable to them from three weeks to a month.

When there are pinworms attached to the intestinal mucosa, the symptoms are not immediately apparent. First, ulcers appear on the surface of the intestine at the sites of their absorption, traces in the form of dots with blood. Then a bacterial infection can join and connect the effects of the products of vital activity of the pinworm. Symptoms of this process are characterized by the appearance of allergic phenomena. They appear as a lesion of the skin, which is accompanied by severe itching.

The main complaint with which patients are treated, if pinworms have settled in the body, the symptoms that speak of their presence are unbearable itching near the anus. Its strengthening occurs at a time when the females are coming out of the anus. Eggs of the pinworm act irritatingly, provoke scratching and the probable attachment of some infection. A disease that has passed into a chronic course is often complicated by the appearance near the anus of a skin lesion similar to eczema. This place constantly remains wet, red, edematous and itches persistently.

This is not limited to the effect of such parasites as pinworms. Symptoms of their further influence in neglected cases extend to the nervous system. This is due to the fact that incessant itching causes sleep disturbance, gradually turning into insomnia. There is a headache, dizziness, a decline in strength, loss of appetite. Children can grind their teeth at night, scratch their noses, become distracted, inattentive, sometimes there is nighttime enuresis. Girls can crawl pinworms into the genitals.

Pinworms in adults and children are treated very easily in early treatment: parasites are completely expelled from the body by taking certain medicines prescribed by the doctor (do not self-medicate). A more prolonged medical intervention requires the complication of the disease by nervous disorders.

To prevent the disease from returning, it is very important to exclude repeated self-infection. To do this, you need to change your underwear daily (and during the invasion and ironing), bathe, wash your hands after the toilet and before meals, keep your nails clean. You need to have different towels for the body and for the hands. You should periodically wash and wash children's toys.

During the treatment, each member of the family should use individual self-care items.
