Pharmaceutical preparation "Foliber": instruction

Pharmaceutical preparation "Foliber" instruction refers to the clinical and pharmacological group of the complex of vitamins of group B. The medication is produced in tablet form. Active active ingredients are folic acid (four hundred micrograms / tab) and cyanocobalamin (two micrograms / tab.). Among the additional components are magnesium stearate, lactose monohydrate, sodium carboxymethyl starch, sodium citrate, citric acid, maltodexin.

In each cardboard pack is placed one blister with twenty-eight tablets.

The "Foliber" medication, the instruction notes, replenishes the lack of folic acid in the body (its lack can cause disruption of DNA synthesis in a cell that prepares for division and replication of chromosomes). The same negative consequences entail a shortage of vitamin B12 - cyanocobalamin.

The use of the pharmaceutical agent under consideration provides an overcoming of the metabolic blockade, characteristic of women bearing a fetus with neural tube formation defects.

The minimum effective daily dose of folic acid is four hundred micrograms (for healthy women waiting for the baby), and vitamin B12 - two micrograms. These volumes are contained in one capsule of the drug "Foliber".

The instruction informs that in the jejunum folic acid is absorbed quickly enough, there it undergoes methylation and reduction to 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (it is available in portal circulation of blood). The maximum concentration in the blood (in its plasma) is fixed after thirty to sixty minutes. Both vitamin B12 and folic acid undergo significant hepatic intestinal recirculation. It is noted that cyanocobalamin is able to penetrate the placental barrier. Like folic acid, it is excreted in breast milk.

Every day approximately four to five micrograms of folate is excreted from the body with urine in the form of folic acid, 5-methyltetrahydrofolate and 10-formyltetrahydrofolate. On average, the half-life of cyanocobalamin is six days. The most part leaves the body with bile, urine. About a quarter of the volume is excreted with calories.

The drug in question is used to prevent the lack of cyanocobalamin in women who plan pregnancy, and to minimize the risk of neural tube defects in the developing fetus in the first trimester of gestation.

The medication is not prescribed for hypersensitivity to its constituent components. With extreme caution, it should be used by persons suffering from impaired glucose absorption or galactose, galactosemia, lactase deficiency (since one tablet contains twenty-three milligrams of lactose).

The drug "Foliber". Instructions for use

This drug is prescribed to adult patients one tablet a day immediately before eating. Use it orally. When planning conception, the "Foliber" preparation for men is prescribed in similar dosages.

Information on drug overdose is currently not available. The ability to manage potentially dangerous machinery and vehicles does not affect the pharmaceutical product.

It is established that the administration of this drug in parallel with the antiepileptic drugs of the hydantoin group reduces the therapeutic effect of the latter.

The drug "Foliber" during pregnancy is used according to the indications of the attending physician.

Among the side effects are allergic reactions.

Shelf life of the drug is 24 months.
