Pediculosis: symptoms of lice, treatment

Lice are different - head and pubic. In both cases, these are small parasites that feed on human blood, causing itching in the place where they live, and also constantly multiplying. What are the symptoms of lice, and how to get rid of them - let's talk in our article.

Types of lice

  1. The head louse (the symptoms of its appearance we will describe later) is a kind of small parasitic insects inhabiting the human head. She eats blood, sucking it. This causes unpleasant itching and further inflammation. Appear brushes on the head - excoriation, serving as a "gateway" for various infections.
  2. Another variety is a pubic louse. As the name implies, its "habitat" is the pubic area of a person. The nature of the vital activity of these lice completely repeats the character of the head lice, but they are only transmitted from person to person solely by sexual contact.

Reproduction of lice

This is very rapid. An adult louse lays about 10 eggs a day, similar to small droplets of liquid. Of these, nits (larvae) hatch, which immediately begin to "bloody meal." Because of this, the itching on the head (or pubic) is greatly enhanced.

Symptoms of lice

  1. The main symptom of lice is the constant itching. It occurs from the very first day of infection, increasing as the number of these parasites increases.
  2. The skin on the head (or pubis) starts to blush. The fact is that lice feed on blood every 3 hours. They bite into the skin, releasing a special saliva like a mosquito into the blood. It causes this terrible itch.
  3. Further symptoms of lice depend on their number. A large looseness on the scalp provokes the appearance of certain pigment spots in the places where lice were bitten. At the same time, the skin begins to become rough and thick. In rare cases, a secondary infection is attached.
  4. As you already understood, exceptions are not also pubic lice (photo). Symptoms of the appearance of these small parasites are absolutely the same as those of head lice. All this indicates that you have contracted a known disease - pediculosis.

How to get rid of head and pubic lice

It is important to understand that lice that appear on your head or pubic are not related to non-compliance with hygiene rules. Pediculosis can occur in any person, regardless of its social status, hair length, color. Constant washing of the head will not solve this problem: you simply will look after your lice, they will always be clean.

In no case do not resort to folk treatment: treating the head or the pub with kerosene and other folk remedies is an unsafe and highly questionable procedure. If you have not forgotten the symptoms of lice, you should understand that the same kerosene easily penetrates into your combs on your head, causing an inadequate reaction of your body.

That is why use special pediculicidal drugs directed. They will help you destroy the parasites in a short time. Are sold in any pharmacy. If it is a question of pubic lice, then before using the drug you will have to remove all the hair from the pubis. This is necessary in order that you can dissolve a special adhesive substance that allows lice to hold on to the hair.

After treatment of the head (or pubic) with pediculicide drugs, be sure to inform and conduct an examination of people who have been in close contact with you in the near future.
