Part of St. Petersburg - Metro Ladozhskaya

The main requirement that is presented today for any type of public transport is the provision of comfort and convenience for passengers. The modern station complex "Ladozhsky", which includes Metro Ladozhskaya, fully meets these stringent requirements.

The famous station of the St. Petersburg metro is open at the very end of 1985, namely on December 30. It is located in the Krasnogvardeisky district of St. Petersburg between the metro stations Prospekt Bolshevikov - Novocherkasskaya. The design name of Ladozhskaya metro station was Novoladozhskaya.

It was planned that it would be the first stage of the station, which then was designed by designers. According to the project, the Ladozhskaya metro station was to be located in the central part of the station, between passenger tunnels leading to the railway platforms. But, unfortunately, the original project was never implemented. For almost two decades the Ladoga station was under construction , the metro was built much faster. Despite the fact that the station appeared earlier, it perfectly blended into the overall architectural appearance of the modern station, which was built only in 2003, and is already an integral part of it.

Many residents of St. Petersburg believe that the metro station Ladozhskaya is directly related to the famous "Road of Life", which was held on the frozen lake of the same name in the severe siege of Leningrad. However, in fact, the "Way of Life" was located in the area of the modern highway of the Revolution in the direction of Ladoga Lake. And from the Ladoga station the trains were sent to the stations, which were connected with the legendary highway.

The decoration of "Ladoga" emphasizes the theme "Roads of Life" - the only thread that connects the inhabitants of Leningrad with the outside world during the siege. The lower part of the track walls, as well as the ends of the station, are lined with gray-blue Ufa marble, reminiscent of the ice of the Ladoga Lake. The top part of the travel walls is crowned by a dark gray granite frieze with the name of the station. Floor lamps in white marble, arranged in two rows along the platform, seem to symbolize the pillars.

Until 2006, the station was lit by mercury gas-discharge lamps that gave white light, which did not distort the color of the facing marble. Then these lamps were replaced with sodium lamps. And although the lighting became brighter, the station's appearance did not change for the better because of the yellow light that turned the gray-blue shades of granite into dirty yellow.

At the end of the station it was planned to build a marble composition "Ice hummocks of ice", but until the end this project was never realized. Now the end wall is made of white marble, it is inscribed in memory of the terrible blockade years - "1941 ROAD OF LIFE 1944".

61 meters - at this depth is the metro Ladozhskaya. The station was built by the architect VN Esinovsky and engineer GF Proshina. The ascent to the platform on the escalator lasts 2 minutes and 20 seconds. The ground vestibule of the station is located at the very end of Zanevsky Prospekt in the immediate vicinity of Ladoga Station, Bolshoi Yablonovka and Karl Faberge Square .
