Osmosis reverse - guarantee of clean water

Many people are interested in such a strange name for the phenomenon: "osmosis is reverse". It comes from the Greek word for pressure or push. It means a spontaneous process of transferring a substance, usually water, through a membrane-a semipermeable partition that separates two solutions having an excellent concentration. This, for example, can be brine and clean water.

Technology

When a membrane, passing only water to a more concentrated substance, blocks the way to dissolved elements, then at some point there comes a balance. The pressure aligned on both sides of the septum is called osmotic. This phenomenon has been used since the seventies of the last century to purify water, especially when getting a drink from the sea.

For today, osmosis is the reverse, perhaps the most advanced technology. It is based on the use of the membrane of the same name. It is believed that it is capable of purifying water from any available natural impurities.

History of occurrence

Osmosis reverse, as the process of separating the components of the solution from each other, has a fairly long history. Even the ancient Greeks, in particular, Aristotle, observed that when sea water passes through the walls of a vessel from wax, it is desalinated.

The study of membrane processes began in more detail only at the beginning of the eighteenth century, when semi-permeable natural membranes were used for scientific purposes by Reaumur. However, until the twenties of the last century, these processes did not go beyond the limits of laboratory research.

In 1927 the German firm Sartorius first received samples of semi-permeable artificial partitions. The development of technologies has become the impetus to the fact that osmosis is used in filters in industrial and domestic conditions.

After the war, Americans, based on the development of the Germans, established the production of cellulose membranes. And only in the late sixties, when the production of synthetic materials began to spread, the first scientific developments began to be made, which became the basis for industrial application of osmosis.

At the present time, similar systems are already installed everywhere, which make it possible to have drinking water with the maximum degree of purification. Its composition, obtained at the exit from the "osmosis reverse" system, is considered environmentally friendly. By its characteristics, it is close to the thawed water of ancient glaciers.

Application

Water filters - reverse osmosis - are connected to a water pipe, from which the water intended for cleaning comes, while the selected impurities go to the sewerage system. The work process includes pre-cleaning and passage through the membrane. After that, the stream, first getting into the accumulator, where the purified water is collected, goes already to the final cleaning, and from there - to the tap.

The reverse osmosis filter is the most economical, universal and reliable method today. It allows you to reduce the concentration of dissolved and colloidal dissolved components by almost one hundred percent, eliminating the fluids from viruses and microorganisms.

The most significant in this whole process is pre-cleaning. In this system, the membrane (reverse osmosis) is the most expensive replacement element. The period of its operation depends, first, on the quality of incoming water. At this stage, three filters are used in sequence, the task of which is to prepare the liquid for passage through the membrane.
