Nyagan GRES is a major project of the 21st century

For some time now, the small city of Nyagan, located in the Tyumen region, has become the place where the most modern enterprise is being built in the power generating industry of Russia - Nyaganskaya GRES. Works on its erection are coordinated by JSC "Fortum", which already includes four thermal power plants in the Tyumen region, and five - in the Chelyabinsk region.

Nyaganskaya GRES in its work is focused on operations on the combined-cycle cycle, there are class F turbines that operate efficiently and with the least pollution for the environment. The total aggregate capacity of the three units under construction exceeds 1.2 thousand megawatts, of which the first unit is already put into operation in 2013 (capacity is about 421 MW), and the second and third will be launched in 2013-2014.

Nyagan GRES is considered one of the most important projects of the country and the Urals Federal District. The station is considered important for the power industry of Ugra, the Circumpolar and Polar Urals, as well as for such enterprises as Rosneft, ITERA, Gazprom, Lukoil, etc. It is assumed that in the construction and operation of such a large enterprise, about 3000 jobs will be created, local contractors will be recruited And specialists of relevant qualifications. This approach will be very useful for Nyagan, where about 51 thousand people live.

At present, Nyagan GRES has "given life" to two new electricity transmission lines in the direction of Ilkovo and to the gas processing plant in the city. Both of them were created with the participation of JSC FGC UES. A hydroelectric power station of this level is being built in our country for the first time in 20 years.

Another generator of electricity - Nizhneturinskaya GRES, has been operating for more than 60 years. Built 40-50 years. 20 century, it for today "gives out" about 300MW, which makes it possible to provide electricity to more than one city. Enjoys well-deserved respect from the citizens and is affectionately called "Aurora" for the number and order of pipes. At the beginning of its existence this enterprise was a training ground for the personnel for the industry, and it also became a key link in uniting the Ural and European power lines. This power station is due to the birth of the city of Nizhnyaya Tura, which received its urban status in 1949, by transformation from a working village.

A much younger generation of Nizhneturinskaya GRES is another example of Soviet-Russian power generation - Neryungrinskaya GRES. Its construction began in 1980, and three years later the first power unit was launched. The total capacity of the station (3 blocks) is 570 MW, and it is the only power generator in Yakutia. The low density of the population in the region contributes to the fact that the capacity of the enterprise is still sufficient (by the end of the 10-ies of the 21st century only about 45% of the station's resource was involved). Moreover, several years ago, agreements were signed with China, according to which, the state district power station should enter the system of organizations providing electricity to its eastern neighbor. At present, the hydroelectric power plant is ready to fully load and sell surplus energy in the domestic and international markets.

At present, about half a thousand power plants of various types (HPPs, CHPPs, nuclear ones) operate in Russia, of which 10 are nuclear power plants. In view of the fact that many enterprises were built dozens of years ago, the issue of the need to modernize the industry as an indispensable condition for the development of industry and maintaining the optimum standard of living of the population is quite acute before state structures and business.
