Museum of Contemporary Russian History. A museum that preserves the memory of generations

An ancient mansion of the 18th century, in which the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia is today, was built according to the project of the well-known architect Adam Adamovich Menelaus. Earlier the building housed a fashionable English club. The community ceased to exist by 1917, and an exhibition opened in the mansion, entitled "Red Moscow".

It contained materials about the revolutions of 1917 , February and October. Based on the documentation, the exhibition was transformed into the Moscow Historical and Revolutionary Museum, later in 1924 it was called the Museum of the Revolution of the USSR.

The modern museum

The unique collection of exhibits, which told about the history of modern Russia, gathered in 1998, defined a new name: the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia. This was an important milestone in history.

Along with the developed new concept, a modern exposition was created, which objectively and deeply analyzed the past of the country. Bright artistic solutions, modern technical equipment, computer technologies were used.

The doors of the museum are open six days a week, the day off on Monday, from Tuesday to Sunday runs from 11:00 to 19:00. Every last Friday of the month there is a sanitary day, respectively, the institution is closed.

The ticket price for an adult is 250 rubles. The cost of a reduced and children's ticket is 100 rubles.
