Movies by Cate Blanchett, released in recent years

Every year in the world about ten thousand films are shot, and these are only serious projects. They are attended by hundreds of thousands of actors, half of whom are women. Most of them are slender, long-legged beauties for every taste. In this ocean of beauty it seems almost impossible to somehow stand out, shine and make you noticed, especially having an unusual appearance. However, actress Cate Blanchett successfully proved that one can become a star of the world cinema, having no connections or ideal proportions, but only possessing a remarkable talent and tremendous work capacity.

Star Biography

Although Cate Blanchett managed to create the image of a real British lady, in fact she comes from Australia. Her father was an emigrant from the United States, and her mother was a purebred Australian. In the Blanchett family, there were three children, and although the head of the family had a difficult time, the girl's mother made every effort to provide the children with a decent education.

The future actress first appeared on stage during school years in one of the amateur productions, since then she had an unconcealed interest in theatrical art.

After graduation from the school and college, she entered the University of Melbourne, where she studied economics and art. However, the girl quickly lost interest in learning and, having collected some money, went to travel to the UK, and then to Egypt. It was in the country of the pharaohs that she accidentally got to shoot the film and, in order to earn some money, starred in the crowd - this was her first experience in the cinema.

Career in cinema

Upon returning home, Miss Blanchett decided to study dramatic art at the national institute. Teachers immediately noticed the extraordinary talent of the actress, and after graduation in 1992 she was often invited to participate in theatrical productions. For her play in a year the girl was recognized as the best beginning Australian actress of the theater. In the next two years, Kate played Shakespeare's plays Hamlet and The Storm, and in several other theater projects.

In parallel with the work in the theater, Blanchett managed to act in film as well. At first they were small roles in Australian television series, but soon she got the main role, though in short film. Her game was so popular with everyone that the girl was often invited to appear in films.

At the same time, the actress married screenwriter Andrew Upton, but, becoming a married lady, she continued to build her career. Having played in several Australian films, in 1998 she got a role in the British costume drama "Elizabeth". This project has glorified a talented actress for the whole world, and also brought her the British Academy Award, Golden Globe and the first Oscar nomination.

Becoming popular outside her country, Kate Blanchett began playing in the London theater, trying not to miss the career in the movies. In the ninety-ninth year there were many movies by Cate Blanchett (one British and two American), one short film and two theatrical productions. In addition, the actress was recognized as one of the fifty most beautiful people on the planet according to People magazine - and this despite the fact that Kate's appearance does not meet the Hollywood standards of beauty.

Over the next five years, Blanchett became so in demand in the cinema that she had to leave the theater, as there was simply no time left for him. In addition, during these years the actress gave birth to two sons, and so she and her husband moved to their homeland - to Australia, to be closer to their relatives. Now Kate had to combine motherhood and filming in the movies. Not all the films of Cate Blanchett during this period were successful, but even in the failed pictures she managed to flash.

The main achievement in professional terms over these years can be considered the role of Katharine Hepburn in the film "Aviator", for her actress was finally awarded the "Oscar" and several other prestigious awards. However, the real spectator love Cate Blanchett received, having embodied on the screen the image of the fairy queen of elves Galadriel, having played in all three films of the epic "The Lord of the Rings".

Becoming a real movie superstar and having won all the most prestigious world awards in the field of cinema, the actress began to try herself in various film projects that she was really interested in. Not all of them were large-scale and large-budget, but Cate Blanchett could already afford to appear in such films. The actress began to choose ambiguous roles. Most of her heroines of that period can hardly be called positive.

Blanchett managed to penetrate the very essence of her characters and compel the audience to sympathize with the Jew who gave out many of her brothers to death, or to the teacher who entered into a relationship with her student.

In 2008, Keith reappeared on the screen as the Queen of the Virgin, Elizabeth, and although this film failed to repeat the success of the first, Blanchett played magnificently, demonstrating how she grew professionally, compared to the first film.

In the same year, the actress played the antagonist of Dr. Indiana Jones in the fourth part of the epic, and also starred in two films with the idol of all the women of the planet, Brad Pitt. Despite the tight schedule, Kate Blanchett managed at the same time to give birth to a third son.

Recently, the actress often starred in costume films, whether it's a trilogy about hobbits, a film about Cinderella or about art seekers. At the same time, she does not cease to embody complex images on the screens. So, in 2013, for the role of the ruined rich woman in the film "Jasmine", the actress received her long-awaited second Oscar. And recently a film with her participation about homosexuality in the fifties, where she plays a woman from high society, realized that she was a lesbian.

Kate Blanchett also does not forget about the theater, but the shooting schedule does not allow her to often go on stage.

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey"

After the grandiose success of the epic epic "The Lord of the Rings", the director of this large-scale masterpiece assembled to film the book that preceded the events of the epic. It tells of the adventures of a hobbit, embarking on a journey with a detachment of dwarves dreaming of returning an ancient artifact protected by a cruel dragon. However, for the film, the book was redesigned and modified to make the picture look like the prehistory of The Lord of the Rings. In addition, the plot introduced heroes, which were not in the original. So, the Elven Queen Galadriel does not figure in this story, according to the original source. But, as Cate Blanchett perfectly coped with this role before and really liked the audience, her character decided to add to the plot of the film "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey", as well as the other two parts. It is worth noting that initially it was not planned to stretch the story into three films, but because of new characters and storylines it was decided to remove the full trilogy.

"The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug"

In the second part of the adventures of the hobbit and his gnome friends, the Australian actress had more screen time. Other Cate Blanchett films from this series contain very few scenes with her participation. However, in this particular, her character played a very important role for the plot of both trilogies. It was the Elven Queen Galadriel who was able to drive the cruel Sauron out of their world for a long time. She herself lost a lot of energy.

Actress Blanchett, who successfully performed this role, was able to perfectly convey all the notes of the character of her character, once again demonstrating her magnificent skills.

Participation in the "Hunters for Treasure"

In the same year, when the third part of the adventures of the hobbit Bilbo appeared on the wide screens, another film appeared with Cate Blanchett in cinemas - "Hunters for Treasures."

In this project, which tells about the American detachment of art historians who are looking for art stolen by the fascists, Kate Blanchett managed to work again with Clooney (with him they were already shooting in the "Good German").

This time, her heroine is the curator of the French Claire Museum. During the years of the German occupation, she risked her life, documented where and to whom the stolen works of art are sent, and also the names of their real owners. However, after the liberation of France because of the secrecy of her work and bureaucratic error, she was sent to prison. Thanks to her painstaking work, the search party was able to save a lot of priceless works of art and return them to their rightful owners.

The work on this film was given by Cate Blanchett uneasy, as she had already played heroines several times in the cities occupied by the fascists. But her talent and ability to get used to the role allowed Kate to successfully create on the screen a completely new image, unlike her previous heroines.

Cate Blanchett is an extraordinary exception to all existing rules. Not a brilliant beauty, a happy wife who married only once and managed to save her marriage. Loving mother of three sons and one adopted baby. A successful actress, loved equally by both spectators and critics - she has been able in all these years to become a real brand. Everyone knows that Cate Blanchett films will always be interesting to watch, just to just admire her game once again.
