Mobility of teeth: degree, causes, treatment

As you know, baby teeth stagger, when instead of them grow permanent. Such a phenomenon poses no danger. But when molars start to move, one should consult a specialist, since this pathology can indicate the presence of diseases. In dentistry, this condition is called the mobility of teeth. This problem arises in many people of different age categories.

Types of mobility

This pathology is divided into the following types: physiological and pathological. In the first case, a slight wobbling of the teeth occurs only when the food is chewed. When they move due to the usual physiology, small surfaces can form on their surface.

Pathological mobility of teeth is revealed immediately without studies, because with such reeling, pain is felt during their pressing.

Degrees of mobility of teeth

To determine the mobility of teeth, there are several classifications in medicine:

  • 1 degree. There is an unstable position of some teeth in relation to adjacent canine teeth or molars. The amplitude of their swing at this stage is not more than 1 mm.
  • 2 degree. Mobility of teeth slightly exceeds 1 mm, they stagger back and forth, left-right.
  • 3 degree. You can loosen your teeth in any direction, even in the vertical direction.
  • 4 degree. At the last stage, the tooth rotates around its axis.

The main causes of pathology

The first two degrees of this anomaly, dentists correct a long course of treatment. At the third stage, unfortunately, the teeth can not be saved, they are removed. They begin to stagger for a variety of reasons, which must necessarily be eliminated in order to prevent the removal of molars and fangs.

Mobility of teeth arises due to the following problems:

  • Incorrect bite. This pathology provokes loosening of the molars, as the position of the upper and lower jaw is disturbed.
  • Periodontitis. With this disease, destruction and loss of periodontal tissues occurs. Periodontitis is well treatable, but it is a fairly common pathology.
  • Gingivitis, which passes to the bone and ligament apparatus.
  • External exposure.
  • Non-compliance with oral hygiene, which causes the development of many diseases.

The main goal of the dentist is to identify the cause, which provoked mobility of the teeth, after which to prescribe effective therapy. But often this complicates the task of periodontitis in the advanced stage and rarefaction of the bone.

After extraction of the tooth irreversible changes occur in the bone tissue, because of which its partial or complete loss occurs. When the mobile tooth is removed, the bone stops receiving the load, so the tissue slowly dissolves. All this leads to the fact that neighboring molars also begin to stagger.

To avoid such consequences, experts recommend installing a crown and an artificial root. This design will last for many years, besides it has a great similarity with the native tooth.

What is forbidden to do with such a disease?

Do not loosen the tooth with your tongue or your fingers. It should not be touched at all, otherwise the situation can worsen, which will lead to negative consequences. The mouth should be caressed with warm water, brushing and toothpaste should be abandoned for a while. If there is still a tooth loss - immediately go to the dentist for his emergency implantation. When tightening this process there will be no possibility to restore the tooth in a qualitative way.

Even in such a situation, it should be remembered that the fragments of the fallen canine or molar can remain inside the gums. If nothing is done, there is a high probability of complications.

Diagnostic measures for dentition

Periodontitis in the early stages is successfully treated, but most people with this problem do not hurry to the doctor. Only with strong movement of teeth and denudation of bone tissue, patients are resolved to visit the dental clinic. But a neglected disease leads to a serious damage to the periodontal tissues, causing friability of the gums. It takes a long course of therapy, strictly observing all the recommendations of the dentist to correct the situation.

In too severe cases, restoration of atrophied bone tissue or splinting of the teeth is performed. Determination of the mobility of the teeth is performed by the dentist, he sends the patient to a radiograph for examination of bone tissue, detection of purulent cavities, for example, flux or cyst, and tumors for accurate diagnosis. If necessary, he can conduct an additional examination on the radiovisiograph.

Mobility of teeth: treatment

The appearance of such a pathology indicates that oral treatment has not been performed in time. Ignoring the wobbling of the teeth will inevitably lead to their loss. However, an appeal to a dentist can help to stop this pathological process in time.

Today, periodontitis at a later stage is eliminated by the use of special devices or by surgery. Hardware therapy is carried out at different stages of the development of the disease. The following procedures are usually performed to improve the condition:

  • Laser treatment. This method helps to kill pathogenic microorganisms painlessly to repair damaged tissue.
  • Ozone therapy. Ozone can remove inflammation and disinfect the oral cavity. It is desirable to combine this procedure with ultrasound or laser therapy to achieve the best result.
  • Treatment with ultrasonic waves helps effectively eliminate dental calculi, plaques, microbial films and endotoxins. This effective method allows you to restore the destroyed gums with a depth of pockets up to 11 mm, preventing further development of pathology.

Mobility of the teeth gives a huge discomfort to the person, worsening the aesthetic appearance. Therefore, we must constantly monitor the condition of the gums and bone tissue, rather than spend a lot of money and time for treatment. Do not forget that it is difficult enough to eliminate such pathology as loose teeth.
