Metal pipe: varieties and applications

When carrying out construction work, various materials are widely used, one of which is a metal pipe. This product is used to create heating systems, laying water, sewage and other communications. It finds application in manufacturing, industry and private construction.

The metal pipe is made of colored or black metal. The latter include products that are made of cast iron or steel, to non-ferrous - items made from non-ferrous alloys.

The main advantage of a metal pipe is its strength. Due to this quality, it becomes possible to use the product when laying various communications that are exposed to an aggressive environment.

Pipes made of metal are very difficult to damage mechanically. For example, the corrugated metal pipe , which is part of the furnace heating, is able to withstand temperatures of about 1500 degrees. Such high technical parameters ensure good sealing of the materials, but only if the installation is properly performed.

In addition to the pluses, the metal pipe has its drawbacks, which can be significant. First, the metal has a low corrosion resistance, therefore, water pipes are often subject to repair and replacement. In addition, these materials give high heat losses when used. To reduce the cooling of pipes, they require special thermal insulation, since with a considerable length of the pipeline, the costs can be very significant.

The metal pipe has its own classification. There are welded and seamless products. The latter are produced by rolling, forging or pressing. They differ in the cold and hot-deformed. Seamless pipes can be used in conditions with high loads, they are able to withstand high pressure.

In addition, there are various profiles. A metal square tube can be produced , as well as products of round, oval and rectangular shape.

The installation of pipes is carried out using a welding machine, so the skills of a qualified welder will be required to install the products. The assembly of metal pipes during construction is usually carried out before finishing works, because welding can damage the quality of facing materials. The installation of the products should be carried out in an open manner, as metal pipes are corroded, and they should not be laid inside the walls.

It should be noted that these products are usually used in industry for heating, at home most often used metal-plastic pipes.
