Medicinal product 'Ketanov'. Contraindications. Instructions for use

The drug "Ketanov" is a powerful analgesic of peripheral effects. The active ingredient is ketorolac tromethamine. The medication is used to stop (eliminate) pain of strong and moderate intensity, especially post-traumatic nature. The drug "Ketanov" is effective for short-term anesthesia after the abolition of narcotic drugs. In addition, the medication is indicated for the elimination of the pain syndrome after childbirth, with ischialgia, otitis, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, chronic tissue diseases. The medication is prescribed as an anesthetic for oncological pathologies, osteochondrosis, arthrosis, radiculitis.

The "Ketanov" drug shows the same effectiveness as opiates, along with it, the drug is as safe as other NSAIDs. One of the advantages of the drug is the duration of its action. The medicinal preparation "Ketanov" is issued in the form of injections and in the tablet form.

The administration of the drug (injections or tablets) is allowed for both regular use and as needed. However, most experts recommend regular use.

A single dosage may be administered in the range of ten to thirty milligrams for intramuscular injection and from five to twenty milligrams for the tablet form (orally).

To use for pain relief, the first dose of 30 mg is recommended intramuscularly, then every six hours for 15-30 mg. The duration of injections is determined by the duration of the period at which pain relief is necessary.

The usual dosage of the drug in tablet form is ten milligrams (one tablet) per day four times.

When taking an excessive amount of "Ketanov" drug, an overdose can be manifested by vomiting, difficulty breathing, pallor, diarrhea, decreased activity.

The drug has no effect on opiate receptors, and therefore its use does not provoke respiratory depression, side effects from the central nervous system, paresis (weakening) of smooth muscles.

Like other NSAIDs, the "Ketanov" medication has side effects in the form of digestive system disorders such as dry mouth, erosion in the digestive tract, dyspepsia, nausea, stomatitis. Also, taking the drug may cause drowsiness, paresthesia (numbness), increased nervousness, dizziness, lethargy, disorders of kidney function, frequent urge to urinate. The drug "Ketanov" also provokes a bradycardia, jumps (decrease or increase) of blood pressure, bleeding from the nose, violations of the function of coagulability, the appearance of hematomas. In some cases, taking the drug causes thrombocytopenia, shortness of breath, respiratory depression, itching, rash on the skin.

The preparation "Ketanov" contraindications has, in general, the same as other NSAIDs. So, the drug is not prescribed for hypersensitivity to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or ketorolac. The drug is not recommended for duodenal ulcers and stomach ulcers, with bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract. At a bronchial asthma the medicine "Ketanov" is not appointed. Contraindications to its reception are also lactation, pregnancy and the moment of childbirth. It is not recommended for children under sixteen. The drug "Ketanov" has other contraindications: a clotting disorder (currently or in the medical history), kidney dysfunction, predisposition to the development of renal failure with dehydration and hypovolemia.
