Measles vaccine

Despite the fact that measles are called childhood diseases, adults can also become infected with it. It is a viral infection, so when in contact with a patient there is a high probability of infection with it. Usually, this disease is accompanied by weakness, high fever, a specific rash. Sometimes it goes without consequences, but in some cases, dangerous complications are possible, including encephalitis, pneumonia, complete or partial loss of vision, etc.

Having experienced measles once, a person receives a sufficiently high immunity, so repeated diseases are rare. But is it worth it to risk health, hoping that the disease will pass gently and without consequences ?! After all, today there is a measles vaccine, which will minimize the possibility of getting sick.

Vaccination can also be effective during epidemics, if the vaccine is given in the first three days after contact with the infected. For preventive purposes, this procedure is carried out at the age of about a year, and in countries where there is a high risk of getting sick, at 6-9 months, because the disease in infants is extremely difficult.

The most common is a combined vaccine against measles, mumps and rubella. In Russia, the following drugs are used: domestic (mumps-measles vaccination) and foreign (Belgian "Priority" and American "MMR-2"). If we talk about monovaccines, we should mention the French medicine "Ruvax" and the Russian vaccine against measles. Their compositions are different, but all have a high level of formation of immunity to these diseases, and all of them are easily transferred by the body.

The measles vaccine imported differs from the domestic one in that it is made (in most cases) on the basis of a chicken egg, which means that it has such a contraindication as intolerance to chicken protein. Russian manufacturers use the embryos of Japanese quail instead of this , so there is less likelihood of allergic reactions.

The advantage of the combined vaccine is to protect against three diseases at once. From such drugs less ballast substances enter the body of the baby, in addition, the number of injections is reduced, and, accordingly, less stress is experienced by the child.

Overseas production of measles vaccine is used in paid clinics and centers. The Russian drug is administered free of charge in the polyclinic at the place of residence (according to the calendar of preventive vaccinations). If the child has not been vaccinated before or has not developed sufficiently stable protection after the first vaccination, then they are invited to the clinic for 6 years (before the school).

Any vaccine against measles has certain contraindications. Vaccination is not done if there is an acute or chronic disease in the acute stage. The drug is not recommended if, after the first vaccination, they had serious complications or had allergic reactions. It is necessary to wait a little with a prick if children simultaneously undergo therapy with drugs that lower immunity. They are a contraindication and oncological diseases.

Sometimes the temperature may rise and a mild rash may appear in toddlers who have been given a measles vaccine. Instruction to the drug notes that this is a normal reaction. It can last up to three days, after which the condition stabilizes.

It should be noted that vaccination (in most cases) is a vaccine, based on weakened strains of the virus. Therefore, such reactions as cough, runny nose may appear. If they are not too strong, then do not confuse them with complications and treat them. The grafted child or adult is not contagious to others (except for sick people or with weak immunity).
