MAZ-206: specifications. The MAZ-206 engine

The bus of urban type MAZ-206 was developed and launched in series production in 1996 at the Minsk Automobile Plant. The need to create a model for transporting people on inner-city routes has long been ripe, since after the termination of Hungary's delivery of the famous Ikarus, all major cities in the CIS countries remained virtually without public transport.

Contract

Minsk specialists signed a license agreement with the German bus concern "Neoplan" for the production of buses under its own brand. After a while, the base model MAZ-103 was created. Then we developed a few more modifications, oriented to passenger traffic in the city. Machines have been successfully used in Russia, Ukraine and in Belarus itself.

Update

In 2006, a new modification was introduced at the Moscow Motor Show - a passenger bus for urban MAZ-206 routes, the technical characteristics of which differed from the usual ones. It was a low-floor type vehicle for carrying a limited number of passengers. The bus was designed at the rate of low loading and could not load the cabin to the full. Its characteristics were suitable for transportation of official use and VIP trips. To work on busy urban routes required a different, more powerful technique.

Low-floor model MAZ-206 with a storage area in the central part of the salon was successfully operated on lines with an average passenger traffic intensity. Automatic sliding platform made the bus an indispensable mode of transport for people with disabilities and patients, chained to a wheelchair.

Capacity

The total number of seats in the cabin is 25 seats, the bulk of which is located at the rear of the bus. In front there are only five seats, all the rest space is intended for standing passengers and wheelchairs. In total, the bus can accommodate 72 people, but this is only theoretically. In fact, such a download is never allowed.

Design

The body of the model MAZ-206 is all-metal, bearing, wagon type. The frame is assembled from box profiles, which are welded together and form a light and solid construction. A spacious driver's seat in the basic configuration is separated from the cabin. In the right part of the partition there is a special window through which you can take the fare as well as issue tickets.

Control

The driver's seat of the model MAZ-206 is equipped reasonably and thoughtfully. All controls, including auxiliary ones, are in sight, the instruments are perfectly illuminated, the chair with good ergonomic characteristics is equipped with a headrest and is regulated in height and in the longitudinal plane. The steering column produced by the German company ZF can also be understood and lowered if necessary.

The engine is in the back of the bus, its layout allowed to abandon the traditional portal bridge. Rear axle - with the arrangement of reducers in the center, leading. The engine is controlled by a complicated system of traction rods that transmit the driver's commands to the accelerator, gearshift levers and semi-axle gearboxes.
