Mastitis in a cat

Inflammation of the mammary gland in cats - mastitis. There are two types of this disease: stagnant and acute septic. In the first cases, mastitis in a cat occurs with lactation, in the last days of the gestation period. This period is characterized by an increase in the production of milk, which accumulates in the gland tissue and causes characteristic inflammatory processes.

Acute septic mastitis occurs as a result of infectious diseases. In the mammary gland, accumulations of purulent fluid are formed, in some cases bloody impurities are added. Feeding kittens often leads to death, since this content contains a significant number of bacteria and toxins.

Mastitis in a cat begins with the appearance of swelling in the area of the breast. When determining this feature, you must contact the veterinary clinic, where specialists will conduct an examination and prescribe the appropriate treatment. It also determines the toxicity and acidity of milk to determine the suitability for its use by kittens. Failure to comply with these rules often leads to death.

Mastitis in a cat occurs when it enters the organ of infection in the postpartum period. Early weaning of kittens also leads to a similar pathological condition. To more rare causes include injuries, the birth of a dead fetus, false pregnancy.

Mastitis in cats has characteristic symptoms, which are determined by the processes of inflammation. It is necessary to protect the cat from the consumption of liquid (this increases the production of milk). It is impossible to allow kittens to be fed in this period. In contrary cases, bacteria contained in high concentrations in human milk will enter their body and thereby cause severe infectious diseases, which are often the cause of death.

The main drug that is suitable for the treatment of mastitis in cats is "Lachesis compositum". It is administered subcutaneously in acute and chronic forms of the disease. In the first case, the drug "Traumeel" is also administered once. Similar methods of therapy in acute forms of the disease lead to complete recovery, which is observed a week after the application of these drugs.

Mastitis in a cat can be prevented with the help of special methods. These include the creation of suitable conditions of detention, the exclusion of hypothermia, trauma, care for nipples, treatment of them with the appearance of cracks and wounds with weak solutions of manganese. Important is the treatment of concomitant diseases, the use of preventive vaccinations, the exclusion of contact with infected animals.
