Main Attractions of Red Square

Today, there are several places in the world that symbolize the whole epoch and are the pride of peoples. For Russians, this is the famous Red Square. Muscovites have something to be proud of, because to see this famous place, they do not have to go a long way. There is a statement that this area is the most famous in the whole world. Well, we will not persuade anyone in the opposite. And let us turn a bit to historical facts and learn more about what they are, the sights of Red Square.

How it all began

When in 1493 Tsar Ivan removed wooden structures from the territories around the Kremlin to avoid the occurrence of fires, which at that time in Moscow raged frequently, he laid the foundation for Russia's most famous square. However, in those days all more or less even sites in the cities were occupied by trade, and the names they had, respectively, were different. At first it was called Torg, later Torgovaya, and later the epithet "red" appeared. The square in Moscow already in those days was indeed very beautiful. As always, everything that starts with trading activity, later takes a political tinge. It was at this time began to build some of the sights of Red Square, although not all of them have reached our days in its original form. With those that we have the pleasure to watch now, it is worth getting acquainted closer.

The Church of the Intercession of Our Lady

The construction of this fabulous temple, published more like a painted candy, was started on the orders of Ivan the Terrible. There is a rather brutal legend among the people that after the construction was completed in 1560 all the architects were blinded by the order of the king, so that they could no longer build a similar in beauty and majesty building. The temple is made in a fairly bright color scheme, but still prevails red. The square in Moscow has long been associated with tourists with this cathedral, and most of us know its unofficial name - St. Basil's Cathedral. It so happened that the Russian saint chose this temple as a favorite place of residence during his lifetime, and after death was buried with him.

The place of execution

The sights of Red Square have a huge historical significance, here is the famous frontal place - not an exception. This platform, laid out of white stone around the 16th century, was not the place of execution, although many believe so. And the name itself came from the name of Golgotha, which for the inhabitants of Moscow, which are mostly Orthodox, has a sacred meaning. A platform guarded by a cast-iron fence was built in order to proclaim tsarist decrees. Here deduced for acquaintance with the people of the future kings-anointed, were exposed for worship of power of the saints revered in Russia, well, sometimes sentences were also read out. The place of execution is a historical symbol for many Russians, a place for the accomplishment of important events that have broken the course of the history of our country.

Kremlin

This is probably the first thing that most people associate with Red Square. As it was only called: the soul of the people, and the cradle of history. Many joyful and tragic events were committed within the walls of this majestic building, which even the most experienced tourist will delight. Since the Kremlin was laid in the 14th century, its appearance was constantly changing, many wooden buildings disappeared as a result of fires, which were a frequent occurrence in Moscow. All the sights of Red Square, of course, are important, but the Kremlin takes the honorable first place. The modern complex consists of 20 towers, the oldest of which was built in 1485. Only five of them, the highest, are decorated with stars. This is Vodovzvodnaya, Nikolskaya, Spasskaya, Troitskaya and Borovitskaya.

Historical Museum

As we already know, all the museums on the Red Square represent an unprecedented value for the people. But there is one place, which you can visit in a short time to learn all the greatness of the past and present of our country. It's about the Historical Museum, a huge complex that keeps real treasures. In the depths of this seemingly heavy building is a huge number of artifacts. Some architects criticize the building of the museum, consider it too "heavy" and such that it stands out from the general ensemble. But considering that for its long history the appearance of the Red Square has been radically changed many times, then any criticism here is superfluous. For our generation, the happiness that the area in general has reached our days, and is no longer so important in what form.

Instead of an afterword

Modern architects and restorers will not be difficult to bring at least the facades of buildings in the proper form and all fit into a single ensemble. Moreover, now during the restorations of the building it is customary to "dress" in the so-called cocoon, so that for residents the final result of the restoration work was a surprise. Recently we can observe such cocoon above the mausoleum building, we hope that this is not another cosmetic repair.

In fact, no matter what the appearance of the Red Square, only its sacred meaning for the Russian people of all generations matters. No matter how many reconstructions it has gone through, people will still come here, come from all parts of our vast country. For several decades, the portrait taken at this place takes an honorable place in the album of millions of citizens. Coming here, you will love this color - red. The square, the photo of which is in our article, is liked by absolutely everyone.
