A friendly family of these drinks has become widespread throughout the world. Someone likes cocktails with their use, and there are also connoisseurs of pure product. Gene "Hendrick" (Hendrick's Gin) rightfully takes a worthy place among other "classmates." But it differs, undoubtedly, its originality and unusual taste, a delicate aroma and nuances of preparation.

And it started relatively recently. In 1999, this brand appeared in Scotland. The drink begins to be produced in Girvan by the company "William Grant and Sons". And already in 2000, the genre "Hendrix" receives a gold medal in the competition in San Francisco. Among the awards and achievements - the title "Gene of the Year" in 2003, gold medals in the competition for the design of packaging and other world-renowned awards. In addition to the juniper traditional flavor, the gin "Hendrix" has the aromas of the Bulgarian rose and cucumber. But this noble drink is bottled in opaque bottles, the so-called pharmacy, having a firm design.

Subtleties of production

What is characteristic of this process, in distillation is used as much as two different distillation apparatus. In the first of them, Carter head, which has an original design resembling a basket, the herbs are not boiled, but "bathe" for a couple. This "Carter" - almost the only one that survived to this day, was built in 1948, and at the end of the last century - carefully restored. The second cube for distillation is the apparatus produced by the Bennett brothers in London in 1860! It is the oldest active cube.

Distillation process

At the beginning of the process, the Bennett machine is filled with grain, water and 11 kinds of various aromatic plants, including juniper, chamomile, elder, coriander, cumin. Day, this mixture of herbs is soaked in alcohol, then heated, the resulting vapors are diverted to the condenser, where the liquid is again formed up to 80% of the strength.

Next, a portion of herbs is loaded into the boiling-cube-basket (the number of ingredients and the order of the bookmark are kept secret by the owners of the brand). The basket is located inside the drainage pipe. The vapors of alcohol, formed as a result of heating, cover the grass. The whole process requires continuous monitoring and manual control. After the "basket" distilled alcohol is even stronger: 83%. So we get two different spirits, which are then mixed in special containers of 450 liters volume, producing blending. And in the finale, add the essence of the Bulgarian rose and cucumber puree. Then follows the cold filtration of the drink. In this way, the "Hendrix" gin is obtained. The strength of the final drink to be bottled is from 41.4 to 44%. The first figure is for Scotland and England.

A characteristic nuance of production is the fact that the genre "Hendrix" is produced in very small batches of 450 liters. This allows the master of blending to more precisely control the production process. And you get a high-quality drink gin "Hendrix" (photo bottled in a bottle - downstairs).

The cocktail of vegetable spices of the drink is very extensive and has 11 ingredients. Seeds of coriander give a special specific flavor. Ginger invigorates and gives strength. Lemon and wormwood are brought from Morocco, juniper berries - from Italy. They give a spicy and sweet, but bitterish taste, very exotic. The Belgian root of the angelica has medicinal properties and promotes the strengthening of immunity, emphasizes the bouquet with musky aroma. The violet root completes the blend, truly intricate and rich. And in the very end of the beverage production, two original additional ingredients are introduced: the Bulgarian rose extract (petals) and the extract from Belgian fresh cucumbers.

It is believed that the quality of the water used is of particular importance in the production of this drink. Girvana (Scotland) is located on the south-east coast. In the valley - soft water, which has special properties and quality. It ideally connects alcohol from grain with a complex palette of aromatic vegetable additives, creating a delicate and unique bouquet of such a drink as gin "Hendrix." And they love it mainly for a very rich flavor and aromatic bouquet, a little distinguishing this drink from a series of traditional quality gins.

Gene "Hendrix": cocktails with his participation

  1. The simplest version of use: take the tonic (you can "Schwepps") 2 parts, a couple of pieces of ice and 1 part of "Hendrix". And we drink until the bottle with the main ingredient is finished. You can add a lime or lemon a cocktail: these citrus fruits perfectly emphasize the taste. If you do not like to be too strong, then you can use other proportions (1: 3 or even 1: 4 - in the ratio of gin and tonic). You can also use other drinks for dilution, for example, "Sprite".
  2. But for some connoisseurs of this strong drink, this option may seem unacceptable. By analogy with the fact that many people deny the use of good whiskey and cola, believing that this only spoils the noble composition. For such comrades, a strong and courageous cocktail "Vesper", described in the novel Fleming "Casino" Royal "is very suitable. The drink is named James Bond in honor of Vesper Lind.   5. The cocktail "Bronx" looks like this: gin - 20 ml, vermouth "Rosso" - 10 ml, dry vermouth - 10 ml, orange juice - 20 ml, cook, of course, in a shaker and apply ice.
  6. The "Lady Chatterley" cocktail is prepared as follows: gin - 30 ml, "Curacao" - 10 ml, vermouth - 10 ml, orange juice - 10 ml. Serve in a glass on a high stalk.
  7. Apple "Martini" is prepared this way: we take 15 ml of gin, 40 ml of freshly squeezed apple juice, 25 ml of dry vermouth , ice. We decorate with apples slices.
  8. Gin, mixed with grapefruit juice and ice, is called "Grapefruit Splash".
  9. A punch with this noble drink is also good. We use the old recipe, voiced by Charles Dickens. This punch with the addition of cinnamon, Madeira, lemon juice, pineapple and honey must always be hot.
