Love is beyond time and space: actors, "The Fifth Element" and cult fiction

The middle of the 90s of the last century was full of militants, in many ways replacing the audience with other genres. The genre of fiction has not been studied to the end, as it was not sufficiently presented to the audience. And yet some films have revealed a new discovery: someone said that fantasy has a positive effect on consciousness, giving birth to something uncharted to this day, others considered such pictures a waste of time and money. On the militant "Fifth Element" can not be said negatively. Perhaps, he succumbed to criticism from all sides, but certainly became successful in all senses.

Opening

Fantasy has long been the favorite genre of Luc Besson. That's where the French director could go to full length! But while walking the usual paths: he created quite reasonable pictures in his homeland. Before the "Fifth Element" he could boast thrillers "Nikita" and "Podzemka", as well as the famous "Leon", in which it was not the first time that he removed his favorite Jean Reno. However, as soon as the criminal drama with the young Natalie Portman gained world success, Besson promised that while he would tie up with the usual genre and discover the one where his free fantasy could break out. The scenario of the "Fifth Element" was written back in the days of school, and now it's time for its screen implementation. Ahead was the colossal work: to gather a technical group, to present the studio with convincing evidence ... Fortunately, Besson had time to prove himself on the good side, because the French media concern Gaumont handed him full power. First of all, Luke needed those who correctly convey on the screen his idea - actors. "The Fifth Element" already in the course of its preparation promised to become a grandiose project. In this professional Besson has not lost.

Start

Luke Besson sat in the director's chair. Few people know that the production of the picture he began in 1994, not yet secured an official permission from the studio. But, like his Hollywood colleague James Cameron, he knew that only painstaking work would bear great fruit. Having finished the script, having determined the places of filming (they chose the corners of Great Britain and Iceland), he began to select those for whom he had set the main hopes. Actors, "The Fifth Element" for which could become a great springboard into the future, with pleasure went to the casting.

She and others

First of all, the main female role played a wild interest. The image of the mysterious girl Lilu wanted to get many actresses. She was the key actor, which turned out to be very effective: in the picture, Lilu is represented half-naked, with a bright red hair color, generated from the DNA of an incomprehensible being. In addition, Leela spoke in a special language and had a huge power. Besson chose Mile Jovovich. Together they came up with the language of the heroine, in the course of the work the actress improvised a lot, and afterwards they often chatted among themselves, causing delight among the entire crew.

Other actors of the movie "The Fifth Element" were against her background are not so colorful. Bruce Willis played a taxi driver Corbin Dallas, accidentally tucked up next. Now he can not leave helpless Lila alone, often flirts with her, but gets rejected. Gary Oldman played the main antagonist of Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg. The earthly manufacturer of weapons, a puppet in the hands of the dark forces, he uses his influence and power to fulfill his cherished desire: after the ship's crash, find four element stones. But for him it is not so simple. The actor himself agreed to the role because of personal respect for Besson after the "Leon". The film was also played by Ian Holm and Chris Tucker. They appeared in the images of Vito's father and Ruby Rod, respectively.

The main elements of success

The premiere took place in autumn 1997. By the middle of the 98th the film already rolled around the world. General fees with a budget of 90 million amounted to more than 260 million dollars. These figures beat all records in the history of French cinema.

The actors could tell about the success. "The Fifth Element" has become for them a truly worthy film. Mila Jovovich, for example, fell in love with the genre of fiction, starring in the famous series "Resident Evil". And Luc Besson offered her a hand and a heart. So, however, it was with Anne Pariyo, which he shot in "Nikita". In numerous interviews, the actors recalled working with the director, staying with him in friendly relations. With Jovovich they will also work on the next film - the historical drama "Jeanne d'Arc". Actors, "The Fifth Element" for which turned into a mark in the career, noted the main thing: Besson showed the unconditional and the possibility of love in any place and time, and on the scale of the universal phenomenon.

"The fifth element" is difficult to call an ideal, a film for the sample, but it really was something new, which the ordinary viewer had not seen before. "The Fifth Element," whose actors and roles remained memorable, if not generated, then at least continued the genre of fiction, closely intertwined with the components of the action movie and hidden philosophy.
