But after the revolution, the family lost its only breadwinner - suddenly his father died.

Left alone with young children, Nicholas's mother did not lose her head and, together with the kiddies - the eldest at that time only turned 14 years old - took up farming. Even an old grandfather who lived with them, helped, than he could. It would seem that life has improved, but another misfortune has scattered the whole family in different parts of the country. In the 30th, the Parthenovs fell under dispossession. Mother was exiled to the North, the children parted - who is in Vladimir to his aunt, who is in Moscow.
