Knots "bayonet": their varieties and patterns of knitting

Marine or fishing business simply can not do without nodes. An experienced fisherman can always reliably combine different types of fishing line, tie a hook or other tackle.

Very useful knowledge of the various nodes for those who go fishing in the sea. You need to know how to tie a knot so that it does not untie at an inopportune moment. Knots "bayonet" allow creating a tight loop, they are very simple in execution, but they are strong and reliable enough.

Useful about nodes

Knot called the ancient way to connect one or more ropes. This is due to the interweaving and binding of the "root" and "running" ends of the rope, line or rope.

The root end is the part of the cable that is fixed in the stationary state. It is an unclosed piece of rope, with which we get a certain knot.

All nodes are divided into certain groups by purpose. Knots "bayonet" are not stretchable. Most often they are used in fishing and sea fishing.

Varieties

Simple half-bayonet

Of the nodes that are not tightened, it is the half-bayonet that is the simplest in execution. Do it this way: they support the running end around the support, then it is braided around the end of the rope, as a result, the running end must be passed into the loop that has just formed. Finish work as a safety harness, which is knitted with a running end.

This simple in performance knot is able to withstand a strong thrust. It can move to the support, but it will never drag out.

Simple bayonet

This node is obtained by combining two half-bayonets. In this version, the number of half-bayonets should not exceed 3 - this will be enough, in addition, from the greater number of the strength of the node will not be higher.

In this case, the use of a safety net is mandatory. Knots "bayonet" are considered very reliable. They are used when the rope needs to be fastened on a support for a strong pull (towing a car or pointing a hanging ferry).

Bayonet with slag

The main difference of this node from the previous one is the presence of a second slug around the support. The presence of the second shlag will make the node more reliable. In this version, it is also necessary to use a safety harness.

Anchor knot (fishing bayonet)

It is this unit that seamen call the most reliable when anchoring an anchor to a rope. This option is similar to the node "bayonet with a slug", but there is one significant difference. The rope in the "fishing bayonet" is also pulled through the second additional hose, which clamps the support. Even with strong traction, the sea knot "bayonet fishing" is not tightened and holds very tightly.

Tourist bayonet

Such a name received an incorrect (inverted) "bayonet". Often it is used by tourists.

Knot "bayonet": how to knit

A "simple bayonet" is one of the simplest knots that does not drag out. To properly perform it, it is necessary, starting from the back, to wrap the running end of the rope around the object. Further it needs to be wrapped round the radical end once and to pass into the resulting loop. The working end must again be carried over the root, wrap it and withdraw through the second formed loop.

Even if the root end of the rope is loaded, the "bayonet" knots will not be tightened anyway. They can always be untied, without removing the load from the root end.

How to tie a "double bayonet"

An anchor knot (this is also called the "double bayonet") is a striking example of unstable knots that has been popular with seamen since ancient times, and all thanks to reliability.

Correctly it can be executed in such a way:

  • The running end is pulled into the anchor ring behind;
  • Through this ring in the same direction the running end of the rope is stretched again;
  • Further this end is taken for the radical and stretched through two newly formed loops;
  • Then the running end is stretched beyond the root, and then - in front of it, and sent into a loop - thus a half-bayonet is obtained;
  • As a result, the knot is tightened, and the two ends of the rope are tightened and fastened with string.

Advice

  1. "Simple bayonet" is not recommended for use when tying a hook to a synthetic line. If the thrust is very large, the knot will slide.
  2. A knot called a "bayonet with a slug" has a great advantage - it is easy to untie it. Although it is not considered reliable, sailors and fishermen use it quite often.
  3. The double bayonet is the knot that is most often used for a strong and reliable anchorage of the rope.
  4. It must be remembered that a properly knotted knot will never fail. Advantage of all kinds of knot "bayonet" is that they will never untie themselves when pulling. In this case, if they were tied correctly, it is very easy to untie them.

Knot bayonet and all its varieties are reliable and strong enough in case the rope is tight. If the load on the rope is variable, the knot can untie. Therefore, using one of the variants of the "bayonet" knot, it is necessary to knit an additional safety net or to fix the running end of the rope with a string or a thin cord.
