Kidney hydrocalysis

Hydrocalycosis is a disease (a symptom, not a diagnosis) in which the renal calyx dilates or stretches, compresses the kidney tissue and pushes it into the periphery. In other words, kidney hydrocalysis is a disease in which the normal movement of urine to the bladder from the kidneys is disturbed. Another name is a synonym - calicoectasia.

You can not make a diagnosis yourself. At least for the reason that kidney hydrocalysis can be confused with other diseases with similar signs. Of the signs on the general background, the most vividly highlighted: chills, back pain (lumbar region), pain with touch, temperature (increased), nausea, vomiting, frequent urge to urinate with a small amount of urine, sometimes there is a clouding of urine with a certain amount of blood. However, the same symptoms with attacks of appendicitis, abnormalities of the digestive tract, with colic bile. Confirm or, conversely, to refute the diagnosis of hydrocalic kidney can only urologist and only after a thorough examination.

Radiographs (or sonograms) and multislice tomography, as well as complete blood and urine tests, allow an accurate assessment of the disease, diagnose, determine the course of treatment, or even the need for surgical intervention. Delaying the establishment of diagnosis and treatment will lead to hydronephrosis - kidney atrophy, i.e. Complete loss of it.

If nevertheless you have a kidney hydrocalysis, the treatment should be performed only after the appointment of a specialist (by the way, it is not entirely true, it is rather a symptom or a sign of the disease).

But not only adults are ill. If kidney hydrocalysis is detected in a child, a specialist should prescribe the treatment. The methods for examining and identifying the causes of the disease are very similar to the methods and methods used in adults. However, do not forget that the hydrocalysis of the kidneys can be congenital or even be an individual feature. In addition, treatment is not always prescribed (for example, if hydrocalicosis does not progress). Constant monitoring is mandatory. Every two to three months you need ultrasound.

Common causes of the disease are stones (or sand), trauma, various kinds of inflammatory processes, leading to similar complications. Very often the consequence of hydrocalysis is a urinary infection. Microorganisms leave the products of vital activity inside our body, and this contributes to the alkalization and rather rapid formation of amorphous phosphate crystals. Therefore, if there is a nucleus of crystallization, accelerated growth of stones begins. And in this case you can not do without a surgeon.

The operation will help to remove the obstruction, which prevents the normal outflow of urine. Since each individual case requires a strictly individual approach, the surgeon determines the surgical procedure. Fortunately, modern (even surgical) treatment can be carried out in a way called endoscopic. With this method, it is not necessary to carry out large traumatic incisions to access the operated part of the body, only two small punctures are sufficient.

Through these two punctures, an endoscope is inserted into the abdominal cavity, allowing you to see what is happening on the monitor. The operation is performed by a surgical thin instrument. And this makes it possible to reduce traumatism times during such surgical intercession. Another huge plus is that the chance to get complications after carrying out this operation is negligible, and she herself is practically bloodless.

As you can see, there is nothing wrong with the hydrocalysis of the kidneys. The main thing is to see a doctor on time and start treatment on time.
