The beginning of the way

The future director Pyotr Fomenko was born in Moscow in 1932. About early childhood it is known a little. The times were not simple and, in many ways, they determined the set of qualities that Peter Fomenko has.

The boy's parents did not live long together, his father died during the Great Patriotic War, and my mother raised a child alone. And she became the most important person in his life. Mom tried to give the child all the best. Petya was an active boy, and she actively accustomed him to sports: football, tennis, skates. All these skills and passions will be spent with him all his life, even being already a very grown man, he famously skated with his students. Studying at correspondence department allowed Fomenko to enter the director's department of GITIS for Nikolai Gorchakov's course, Andrey Goncharov taught there, later he played a role in the life of Fomenko. At this time, Fomenko is putting his first play "Restless Legacy", and this was the starting point in his life calling.

Education has not yet given Fomenko a guaranteed place in the profession. He has to find his place long and painfully. He works in several theaters, he does not refuse to put plays in the Houses of Culture. He yearns for work, but prudish criticism does not want to recognize the excessive manifestation of the talent and nonconformism of Peter Fomenko, it condemns him to years of neglect, but he accurately understands his destiny and works hard despite difficulties.

A novel with a theater

Since the 60s of the twentieth century, the artist has been actively cooperating with famous Moscow theaters, at this time Pyotr Fomenko is developing, an experimental director who is beginning to be recognized by the audience. In 1966, he put in the theater. Mayakovsky's famous play "The Death of Tarelkin," which rigidly ridiculed the realities of Soviet life, and censorship, of course, could not forgive the artist such courage. The play was banned for the show, the same fate awaited the production of the "New Mystery-Buff" at the Lensovet Theater, the audience did not see this performance at all. All these prohibitions have led to the fact that the director remains unclaimed, and in the thirst to find his theater, he leaves for Tbilisi, where he will work two seasons.

Later he lives for a time in two cities: working in the Leningrad Comedy Theater and staging performances in Moscow theaters. The period from 1972 to 1981 puts a lot of performances, which form his author's style: "Love Yarovaya", "This dear old house", "Forest", "Terkin-Terkin" and others.

However, the main woman who was with him in the mountain, and in joy almost 50 years, became Maya Tupikova. She was an actress, but left the scene and devoted her life to her husband.
