Karting - what is this: entertainment or sport?

On the TV, on the equipped circuits in amusement parks or autodrome you can see the race of people on tiny open typewriters. This is an exciting spectacle. Almost everyone can try himself as a rider. Some go-karting carries on so that it becomes a favorite occupation for many years.

Karting - what is it?

One of the varieties of car racing on special machines - cards - is called karting. The card is a small small car for racing open type, without bodywork. Its design consists of a frame on which is attached a miniature engine, a seat and wheels. Maps can develop speeds from 60 to 260 km / h, depending on the type and class of the car. Races are held both on open tracks and in specially equipped places - on the kartodroms.

What is the meaning of the word "karting"? It came in Russian from English (carting) and has two meanings:

• Racing on maps;
• A platform for similar competitions.

Before the race the riders wear special equipment. For amateur karting, the minimum required is a helmet, overalls and a special neck collar. Professional outfits are also complemented by special shoes, a balaclava, gloves and a number of other accessories.

Sports or entertainment?

Let's try to classify carting correctly. What it is? A full-time sport or gambling? Both answers are correct. There is professional and amateur carting. The fact is that cars in karting have an almost formal division into two types. Some cars are designed for sports and are characterized by a more sophisticated device, increased power, high-speed capabilities. Professional karting competitions are summer and winter, and the races are individual and team races.

Other machines are designed for amateur carting. They are called rolling. These are the cards that are used for racing as entertainment. They have a simpler management.

Most of the racing drivers came to professional motor sport from karting.
