Kaluzhskoe highway: reconstruction. Plan for reconstruction of the interchange of the Moscow Ring Road and the Kaluga Highway

Road works create inevitable problems for all who pass along the highway. A man behind the wheel has a rhetorical question: "Was it really impossible to do without this?" But on one of the oldest roads near Moscow this question was put differently and quite concretely: "When will the reconstruction of the Kaluga Highway begin?"

It was impossible to postpone further

The transport infrastructure of large megacities, to which Moscow undoubtedly also belongs, is the most important life support system for their large population. The system of transport communications is formed over many years and decades. No less important for large cities are highways that provide communication with the regions. And inevitably there comes a time when it is impossible to do without the cardinal engineering solutions aimed at the reconstruction of what has ceased to meet the requirements of the time. Procrastination will inevitably lead to a worsening of the situation. It is these circumstances that are responsible for the reconstruction of the Kaluga highway, the plan of which is finally approved and adopted for execution. Road works have already begun and are being carried out at an increasing pace.

From the history

The Kaluzhskoye highway, which was rebuilt in April this year, is one of the most important transport routes that provide Moscow's communication with the regions located from it in the southern and western directions. This route, designated in modern road atlases as a highway of federal significance A-130, reaches the border with Belarus. On the territory of the Moscow region it passes along the Old Kaluga road, one of the oldest routes of communication in Russian history. The status of the highway was received by the Emperor Nikolai the First under the Emperor. On this route, the capital was connected with Kiev and Warsaw, but by a strange coincidence, another road leads to the city of Kaluga. From the geographical point of view, the Kaluga highway is a direct continuation of the modern Trade Union Street in Moscow.

Problems of the south-western direction

To increase the capacity of the road and get rid of the traffic jams that constantly appear throughout its length, you should increase the number of lanes and provide a separate dedicated lane to public transport. The reconstruction project of the Kaluzhskoye highway provides for the extension of the route on the most strained areas in two and even two and a half times. The main difficulty here is not so much technical, as in the administrative sphere. The fact is that the south-western direction is very in demand. Therefore, the free land plots, for which the extension of the federal highway should pass, is almost impossible to find on both sides of the road. Even if there is no building on the territory, the plot has its owner. And no one will want to part with him without benefit. Without the tearing away of the ownership of land, it will be impossible to expand the Kaluga Highway, whose reconstruction, however, allows us to do without demolition of residential facilities throughout the distance of the work. For an acceptable solution of the land issue, the administrative authorities of the Moscow region have to make considerable efforts.

What to do

To turn the road into a modern motorway, it is not enough to simply expand it and increase lanes. Kaluzhskoe highway, the reconstruction of which should be completed in about two years, will receive a number of engineering infrastructure facilities. The most important of them, of course, is the denouement at the intersection with the Moscow Ring Road. After the completion of work, it will meet modern requirements. The reconstruction project of the Kaluga Highway, the scheme of which provides for the organization of the lightless traffic, includes the erection and arrangement of nine other intersections at different levels. This is the outcome on the warm camp, at the entrance to the Mega shopping center, turnout tunnels near the settlements of Mamyri and the Gas Pipeline, the bridge crossing the Sosenka River, two tunnels near the residential complex, the oak and flyover on the approach to the Voskresenskoye settlement. Throughout the route there will be 27 stops of public transport equipped with special pavilions.

Stages of a large project

In full accordance with the basics of logistics, the reconstruction of the Kaluga Highway, the scheme of which contains a significant number of complex engineering facilities, is divided into three stages. This allows you to concentrate all available capacities for the speedy completion of each of the sites and, ultimately, the whole project. The length of the first section is about thirty kilometers, from the intersection with the ring road to the village of Voskresenskoye. At the second stage of the reconstruction work will be carried out at a distance from Voskresensky to the city of Troitsk. And at the final third stage - on the section from Troitsk to the Central Ring Road.

Decoupling on the Ring Road

One of the most problematic places of the Kaluga highway is its beginning. Constant traffic jams have become commonplace as Profsoyuznaya street approaches the Ring Road. The present two-level car interchange here has clearly ceased to fulfill its function to the proper extent. Reconstruction of the interchange of MKAD and Kaluga Highway, the scheme of which was approved in the first phase of the project, is foreseen: the construction of a tunnel from the inside of the Ring Road to Kaluzhskoe Highway towards the area (as a result, the decoupling will become a three-level tunnel), the erection of a directional overpass The inner side of the Moscow Ring Road from the Kaluga Highway and the construction of collector-distributing lateral driveways along the Ring Road. The lateral driveways will be equipped for both directions of the route, they are designed to unload the main road as the traffic flows approach the turns at the junction. The situation is complicated by the fact that the entire planned cycle of reconstruction works must be performed without a temporary withdrawal of the object from service. But this practice has long been common. When designing a reconstruction project for this engineering structure, the experience of designing similar facilities in Moscow and in the world's largest megacities is taken into account. Automobile interchanges at the intersection of main routes are traditionally considered to be the most complex and expensive infrastructure facilities.

Detour sites

The rational aspect of the project should be recognized as the decision to build bypass sites around existing residential areas. The ancient Kaluzhskoe highway, the reconstruction of which should turn it into a modern motorway, passes through several settlements. The village of Sosenka, where the project provides for the construction of a new bridge across the same river, divides the existing highway into two parts. Going the road is not always easy because of the intense traffic flow. The bypass section will be longer, but it will probably move faster. On other sites, it is envisaged the erection of elevated pedestrian crossings.

Kaluzhskoye highway: reconstruction of 2014 - deadline for completion of the project

All those who regularly use this route can not but interest the calendar dates for the completion of the repair work, which is currently being carried out in accordance with the approved schedule. The available information is encouraging - the site to the settlement of Sosenka should be made already in the third quarter of this year. The site up to Troitsk, according to the approved plan, was to be put into operation two years after the start of work. But today the schedule is adjusted in the direction of reduction of terms. And there is every reason to assume that work at this distance will be completed in 18 months, in 2016. About the timing of the completion of the third part of the project - the site to the Central Ring Road - it is still premature to speak. This part of the project is under development, and the timing of its intended completion is not approved.

The territory of New Moscow

In July 2012, a historic state decision was made to fundamentally change the geography of the city of Moscow. A significant part of the Moscow Region has entered the city limits. This means, among other things, that the Kaluga highway has ceased to be a country road. He had excellent prospects. In the coming years and decades the capital will be destined to develop in the south-west direction. On both sides of the Kaluga highway will be built new modern residential complexes, many commercial enterprises and service structures. Increase the investment attractiveness of the entire area, located near this route.

Duplicating directions

In the very near future, the Kaluga highway should become one of the main highways of New Moscow. And this means, among other things, the need for its unloading from traffic flows. Currently, options are being developed for the construction of redundant trails heading south-west. The first backup of the Kaluga highway will be a route from the village of Sosenki to the Central Ring Road. Its construction was deemed expedient on the grounds that the Kaluga highway could not cope with all traffic flowing along it, even after reconstruction. In favor of this project, says the circumstance that the track will completely pass through undeveloped territory. This does not require demolition of housing and re-laying of the communicated communications, which will positively affect the budget of the proposed construction.
