Jim Hawkins: A Brief Characteristic of the Character

Character

Jim Hawkins is definitely a positive character. He is endowed with the best qualities inherent in a young man of his age. A young man is brave, adventurous, bold and inquisitive. He is devoted to his comrades and is willing to risk for the common good. However, Jim can not be called recklessly brave. On the contrary, he is very cautious: if he decides on some dangerous and risky venture, he first carefully considers his actions, which leads to success.

A difficult life taught him a lot. Jim Hawkins helped his mother to maintain a tavern and therefore from childhood grew accustomed to the harsh routine. Care for the mother early awakened in him a sense of responsibility and prudence, which later became so useful to him in those adventures and trials that fell to his lot. Jim Hawkins is very friendly and sociable. Therefore it is not surprising that he immediately evokes sympathy from his new acquaintances, and even the ferocious pirate Silver treats him in a friendly manner, protecting the boy from the revenge of his terrible accomplices.

In addition, he is in adolescence, when people are very sensitive to what they are witnessing. Therefore, the narrative on behalf of Jim turned out to be very lively and entertaining. He is very simple in his assessments and obviously is not inclined to embellish or, on the contrary, to offend anyone.
