Ivan Khutorskoy (Kostolom): photo, murder

He was attacked three times. Having recovered from severe wounds, Ivan Khutorskoy did not abandon his convictions and did not hide, remaining the leader of the radical direction of the anti-fascist movement of the youth. His death on 16.11.2009, at the hands of neo-Nazis, turned his name into a legend. Today it symbolizes those who cleared the punk culture in Russia from the brown plague.

Strokes to the portrait

He was born in an ordinary family on February 17, 1983 in the eastern part of the capital. He was engaged in sports and achieved quite good success in arm-wrestling. From here went his nickname - Ivan Khutorskoy Kostolom, on which he was well known in the youth movement. He was fond of sambo. But the greatest passion of his life is punk rock. From the age of eleven he went to concerts in the "Estacada", where the first national bands performed: "Naiv", "Distemper", "Purgen".

In the 90's the club in the Proletarian district had a bad name. At punk parties, orders were set by skinheads in black T-shirts and Lonsdale sweaters, popping up on stage with the screams of "Zig Heil". Neo-Nazis sought to penetrate into the youth subculture, and punks seemed to them an easy target.

From a teenage-hefty with a funny green mohawk, trying to stand out from the crowd, Khutorskaya Ivan turned into an informal leader of a healthy part of the youth who decided to rebuff the fascist youngsters. Taking on the mission of guarding musicians and bringing order to the scene, he headed the most militant part of punk rock fans who responded to violence against violence.

The first attempt

The fact that his path is associated with a risk to life, it became clear at the beginning of the two thousandth, when the clashes of anti-fascists with the ultra-right began to lead to real human victims. One of the first became a student from St. Petersburg, Timur Kacharava, torn to pieces by a crowd of young neo-Nazis in 2005. In the same year, musicians from "Tushka" and "Shlyuz" collectives who were returning from the festival in Dubna were brutally beaten. The first attempt on the Bonebreaker was made.

At this time, anti-fascist groups were extremely scattered, and Ivan Khutorskoy responded to the invitation of "newcomers" to get acquainted, sent over the Internet. It was an ambush. He was surrounded by three people with a crowd of thirty. The guys managed to escape, and powerful Ivan was brutally beaten, having broken his head with a dangerous razor. To humiliate the leader of the left radicals, the video was posted on the Internet with the slogan "Kill the anti-fascist."

The second attempt and the death of my father

For his and rock musicians, Ivan became the embodiment of security, and for neo-Nazis expelled from concerts, enemy number one. They had to "snap" in the streets and in the gateways, meeting scattered spectators of punk concerts. After Kostolom began to follow purposefully and after half a year attacked in the entrance of his own house. The baseball bat broke the young man's face, shattering the bones of his nose. A sharpened screwdriver inflicted more than ten strokes, mutilating it externally and damaging the neck.

Ivan Khutorskoy barely recovered from injuries. With the effort of will he recovered, but until the last days he was slightly led by walking. My father died from the experience, and soon died of cancer. In the care of the young guy remained mother and sister. Working as a lawyer in the charitable center "Children of the streets", he completely kept them, not refusing to continue the fight against neo-Nazis.

Obsession

After the second attempt, Kostol became obsessed. He broke up with the girl, realizing that he had chosen a different path. Friends say that in recent years he was particularly intolerant of the Nazis, persecuting everyone who came across the road. He began to wear brass knuckles. In the winter brawl with the ultra-right, he was seriously injured by a knife blow. The wound in the stomach could be fatal, but the doctors pulled him from the other world.

In October 2008, his friend Fyodor Filatov (Fedya), who was slaughtered near his house, was gone. Today it is known that this is the first of the murders in the chain of crimes created by Tikhonov and Goryachev, the ultra-right BORN grouping. But then it seemed to everyone that this group was just an attempt to create an image of the neo-Nazi movement on the Internet.

Ivan Khutorskoy, whose photo during the Filatov Memorial Tournament can be seen above, gathered more than one hundred children from all over the country in order to increase the fighting efficiency of the organization. Competitions in mixed martial arts were to become a tradition, but a month later another attempt was made against their organizer.

Murder

At nine o'clock in the evening on November 16, 2009 the young man went to the mailbox to take out the mail. A shot rang out from behind. They shot at the head, and the residents of the house on Khabarovskaya Street heard only cotton, not realizing what a tragedy took place in their entrance. The ambulance, who came to the call of a neighbor who discovered the body of a young man, only had to admit death. The news that Ivan Khutorskaya was killed instantly flew through the media, and representatives of the anti-movement urgently appealed to the Moscow mayor's office with a request for a rally. The most authoritative informal leader of the subculture of the Russian Social-Democratic Party - the community of red and anarchist skinheads - died.

Having been refused, more than a hundred young people organized the laying of flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. For them, the life of a twenty-six-year-old boy is an example of serving the ideals of justice and fighting for one's beliefs.

The funeral

The family did not have enough money to betray Ivan's body to the earth. The place in the cemetery was prepared for an elderly grandmother, so the young man was cremated. To avoid bloody clashes, the ceremony was accompanied by OMON fighters. Several hundred friends and supporters spent their last journey on their comrade. Ivan Khutorskoy, whose grave is on the Nikolo-Arkhangelsk cemetery, was dressed in the style of a skinhead. During his lifetime, he always wore suspenders, pants with turnstiles and red boots . Martens. The Martens were placed next to the body, considering this to be the principal moment of the mourning ceremony.

When the song "Solidarity" of the band Stage Bottles sounded, severe guys could not hold back tears. They vowed to find murderers and tell people about Ivan Khutorsky, because for the townsfolk and the police, the skirmishes of the youth are common hooliganism. And for them - the struggle for beliefs. Once in Germany at the dawn of fascism, the combat brigades of the German Communist Party also fought the Nazis with radical methods. Red skinheads in Russia consider themselves to be continuers of their cause.

Afterword

In April 2015, a trial took place over the activists of the extremist community of BORN who committed a number of ideological motives. Isaev and Baklagin were on the dock, carrying out shadowing of Ivan. The very same singer named Korshunov allegedly blew up on a bunch of grenades in Ukraine. Ivan Khutorskoy became not the only victim of criminals. They were charged six episodes. Among the killed not only anti-fascists, but also Judge Chuvashov, athlete Muslim Abdullayev. Most members of the community received a life sentence, the Supreme Court upheld the verdict.

Friends created a film in which they told people about their friend and his beliefs. Every year in many cities, young people organize actions in memory of all the victims of the anti-fascist movement under the slogan "We Remember". For them, this is no longer a game - the human life is at stake.
