Is it possible to make a soft box by myself?

In our time, a quality and beautiful photo is very much appreciated. In order to achieve the desired result, during shooting, not only a professional or amateur camera is needed, but also additional photographic equipment and devices. Now many are addicted to photography: for someone it's a hobby, for someone else's work. But both can not do without the necessary equipment. A useful acquisition will be a softbox for on-camera flashes. With its help you can achieve the result of shooting, as in a professional studio.

Of course, you can go to any specialized store and buy it there. But this is an option for those who have excess funds. For those who prefer to save, you can make a softbox with your own hands.

First you need to understand what a softbox is for. With its help, any photography (portrait, children's or wedding) can deliver a quality light. The result is soft and diffuse light, the subject is well lit, the volume is not distorted, there are no clear shadows. Therefore, all those who want to receive high-quality photos, it is recommended to have such a thing available.

To make a softbox with your own hands at home, it will take a little time and materials. For this you need to take:

- White paper (the choice of format depends on the size of the intended softbox). For larger sizes, you can take either white fabric or a white translucent piece of plastic. Paper is needed as a scattering material.

- Self - adhesive film of black color.

- Self - adhesive silver film or foil.

- Thick cardboard.

- Reinforced double scotch tape.

- Scissors.

All this is easy to buy in building stores.

We start to make a soft box with our own hands. On the cardboard sheet, we draw a foundation for the soft box, taking into account the size of the surface of light scattering, as well as the size of the flash. Draw it in such a way that the top, bottom and side pieces match. As a result, you get two pairs of parts. The next step is to glue each side of all the parts with a black film. In this case, from the side where there will be a flash, make a small ledge (3-5 cm). Then we glue the other side of all the parts with a silver film and bend the ledge with a black film.

Next, we take a double Scotch tape and continue to make a soft box with our own hands. With its help, we connect all the details so that our future device for reflecting light is securely fastened, remove stickers from tape and glue the stripes of black film on top. This is done to make the softbox look aesthetically pleasing. In conclusion, you need to attach a white sheet, that is, the scattering part, and secure with strips of black film 3-4 cm wide.

Ready-made softbox for the flash with your own hands is fixed and installed on the rack - the thing is ready for work! In this way, you can make different size softboxes and have more than one copy available.

This will allow you to achieve an excellent and professional setting of light. Of course, softboxes are needed, like other professional equipment for filming, to all photographers.
