Inversion in the literature: features

How is the inversion in literature used? Not everyone knows the answer to this question. Modern Russian language in its richness and diversity uses various techniques of expressiveness, which the science of language has transformed into various terms. You could meet such terms of literature as anaphora (repetition of the word at the beginning of the phrase), antithesis (sharp opposition of images, sharp contrast), hyperbole (exaggeration). Let's talk about inversion.

The terms of literature, such as "inversion", have Latin roots (from Latin Inversia - permutation or reversal). But on the question of what such an inversion is, it is easier and more willing to answer you English, since in English by means of inversion, interrogative sentences are being created.

Inversion in the language

Inversion in the language means that the direct order of words in the sentence has been replaced by the reverse one. In the Russian language, in the sentence, when the subject is first, then the predicate and then the secondary members of the sentence, the direct order of words is used. This order of words is used for scientific literature, as it preserves the neutral coloration of the entire narrative. To give an emotional coloring to the content of a speech or a work, an inversion is applied. In a language, especially an oral one, an inversion is created by rearranging the subject and the predicate in places, or transferring to the beginning of the sentence the minor members of the sentence.

Inversion in the literature

In works of art , inversion is often used. In the literature, for example, A minor member of the sentence is placed in the center of the sentence, where the logical stress falls on it , which helps the reader to pay attention to the small details that can play a decisive role in the work. In D.Granin's proposal: "I do not believe in the good thoughts of the current new Russians", the predicate is placed in front of the subject, the logical stress is, therefore, transferred to the predicate. The author emphasized his distrust of the plans of the new class. In order to remember all the information associated with the object, it must be transferred to the end of the sentence. We read from M. Bulgakov: "Curious people peeped under various pretexts to the large washroom from the corridor where alarm calls were already cracking." All additions are made at the beginning of the proposal, in order to focus our attention on the environment.

The inversion in literature is especially weighty when we talk about poetry. We can say that the inversion in literature is specially invented for poetry. Even in the most common unsolicited sentence, when the subject and predicate are interchanged, one can achieve an effect in which everyone can say that he is reading poetry. In the sentences: "waves are running" (direct order), and "waves are running" (inversion) - "poetic" - the second sentence. A striking example of inversion in poetry can serve as lines of IS. Nikitin:

Clearly morning. Quietly howls

Warm breeze.

or:

Soon the grass will cover the slopes

And the December storms, like wolves, will lie down.

V.A. Lugovskoy

In verse, the need to use inversion is determined by the size and rhythm of the verse line. The use of inversion creates a special unique drawing of a poetic design.

In Pushkin we read:

Shining a lantern,

Deep vaults lighting,

They're coming ...

Inversion gives the mood of tension and mystery.

The use of inversion in life

The use of inversion in ordinary life is not always justified and can be a difficulty in understanding. If the text used for domestic needs is replete with sentences in which an inversion is applied , this will prevent its understanding.
