Installing the fog lights in the car

In bad weather conditions during fog, fog lights are required . In addition to the visibility enhancement function, such a detail of automotive equipment performs other tasks:

1. illumination of sections of the carriageway (near and medium);

2. improving the visibility of vehicles on the road;

3. roadside lighting.

Correct installation of antifog headlights contributes to the correction of the "blindness" of the main headlights of the car. This makes the roadway in the darker hours safer.

Fog lamp installation: methods

Installation of fog lamps can be done in two ways:

• Installation of standard fog lamps proposed by the manufacturer of the produced car. For each model of technology are designed individual headlights. An advantageous feature of this method is the good conformity of the part, as well as the availability of the necessary fastening devices. This gives the car a complete look.
• Installation of the universal kit. Most headlight models are on sale. Therefore, each car owner will be able to pick up a suitable set of fog lamps for his car. The installation of fog lamps is available even for people with little experience in locksmith and electric work.

The above ways to install the headlights can be combined. That is, mount the universal part in the regular openings of the bumper. The sequence of works is as follows.

- Manufacturing of special "glasses" for headlights. Required parts: set of headlights, wiring, shut-off button, fiberglass cloth, factory plugs, epoxy resin, putty and two small pieces of fabric.

- Remove the plugs from the car.

- Removal of all excess in the factory plugs (do not touch the outer contour and fastener parts).

- Stripping the edges of the part from the burrs.

- Fixation of tissue in several places with the purpose of providing contours at first approximation.

- Preparation of the layout of the future headlight. The workpiece should be wrapped with paper tape and greased with grease.

- Fixing the layout with the help of improvised tools.

- Coating a piece of cloth with resin.

- Slip the second piece of fabric using another layout of the headlamp.

- Fitting the headlights to the car after the resin has hardened.

- Manufacturing of fixing lugs.

- Making the face of the finished surface with a putty.

Connecting the fog lights

The process of connecting the kit is done using the regular button. The appearance of the button is not important. Particular attention should be paid to the connection scheme. Guided by the rules of the road, the connection of the fog lights must be carried out only with the parking lights switched on. In many car models, the automatic fog lights are turned off. This is due to the fact that drivers often forget to turn off the fog lights. Automation is triggered when the ignition of the equipment is switched off, extinguishing the fog-lights. When the car door is opened, the system extinguishes the parking lights. To prevent the fog lights from being turned on together with the headlights, an additional relay must be installed in the wiring diagram. It must be included in series. This procedure allows to ensure the operation of fog lamps only with the included dimensions and ignition.

It should be taken into account this fact: it is recommended to place the headlights on the bumper closer to the ground. Use fog lights only if necessary. In the absence of fog, they can not be included, since they will interfere with the oncoming vehicle.
