'Indomethacin Sopharma'. What is this preparation?

"Indomethacin Sopharma" is a drug of a group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Its use has local anesthetic, anti-inflammatory and anti-edematous properties. It is also an antipyretic and has a slight anti-aggregative effect.

The mechanism of its action is to inhibit the formation of pro-inflammatory factors that promote elevation of temperature, maintenance of the exudative and proliferative stage of inflammatory processes. This is achieved by inhibiting cyclooxygenase 1 and 2, as a result of which the synthesis of prostaglandins from arachidonic acid is disrupted.

Thus, "Indomethacin Sopharma" in the form of an ointment eliminates pain syndrome, reduces swelling and erythema, thereby helping to reduce swelling in the joints and increases the volume of movements in them.

This drug is used systemically for pain in the spine, rheumatism, articular syndrome (rheumatoid arthritis, ostearthritis, gout, ankylosing spondylitis), neuralgia, dysmenorrhea, diffuse connective tissue diseases, myalgia, traumatic inflammation of the joints and soft tissues). With such infectious diseases as adnexitis, cystitis, prostatitis, it is used as an auxiliary. Locally, the medication "Indomethacin Sopharma" is used to prevent inflammatory processes during surgical interventions on the cataract and anterior segment of the eye, also necessary for intraoperative myosome inhibition.

External medicine is also used for neuralgia, myalgia, traumatic inflammation of the joints and soft tissues, with pain in the spine, as well as with articular syndrome.

However, if available

- an individual hypersensitivity to it or to another non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent,

- ulcers of the stomach or intestines in the stage of exacerbation,

- Pregnancy and lactation,

- disorders of hematopoiesis,

- pronounced impairment of the liver or kidneys,

- severe forms of chronic heart failure,

- pancreatitis,

- and also to children under 14 years of age, its use is contraindicated!

Redness, itching and rash at the site of application are side effects that occur if you use the medication Indomethacin Sopharma.

Ointment instruction recommends rubbing in a very thin layer in the skin, namely at the site of the projection of pain, approximately 2-3 times a day. On the day for adults, the total amount of ointment used should not be greater than 15 cm, and for children over 14 years of age - up to 7.5 cm.

The appearance of such symptoms as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, disorientation, memory impairment, severe headache indicates an overdose. In more severe cases, cramps, numbness of the limbs and paresthesia may appear. In this case it is necessary to carry out symptomatic therapy. Hemodialysis in this condition is ineffective. It should be noted that the drug "Indomethacin Sopharma" (ointment) is practically not absorbed into the systemic bloodstream. This causes a low incidence and overdose, and systemic side effects (for example, such a severe allergic reaction to this drug, as anaphylactic shock).

In addition, the ointment should not be applied to the damaged surface of the skin, to wounds. This can lead to systemic side effects. Also, avoid getting the "Indomethacin" ointment on the mucous membranes or in the eyes.

Before using this medication, always consult with a specialist. Perhaps you do not need the use of a drug in this group at all, or you need a dose adjustment. This will help you save your time and health!
