Importance of animals in human life. Animals and people: what links them?

Animals are part of the world around us. Their influence on man and on the nature of the Earth as a whole is very diverse.

wild nature

Animals participate in the cycle of substances and maintenance of biocenosis. What role do animals play in nature? Some of them eat plants, others feed on fauna, others absorb the remains of dead organisms.

Consumers of dead organics are present in all classes of animals. These are worms, larvae of flies, dung beetles, birds and mammals-scavengers. By processing dead organisms, these animals perform the role of nurses, cleaning the habitat from rotting organics.

The importance of animals in human life is also determined by the ability of animals to maintain a balance of the number of living organisms. Predatory animals regulate the number of populations of herbivores, and they, in turn, do not give excessive reproduction to plants. Parasites and predators screen patients, weak and nonviable individuals.

Insects, birds and mammals contribute to the pollination of plants, and also carry their seeds for considerable distances.

Animals that produce limestone skeleton (mollusks, snails, coral polyps, radiolarians) participate in the formation of sedimentary rocks.

Pets

Humanity domesticated the first animals about 10 thousand years ago. It is believed that the first helpers of people were dogs. Somewhat later, there arose meat and dairy cattle, then the man domesticated the horses. The importance of animals in human life is largely determined by the benefits that it receives from domestic species.

At first, people used products obtained from wild animals, and then gradually domesticated them and began to breed breeds that are highly productive. This was especially evident in beekeeping and poultry farming.

Pets in human life are a source of food and raw materials for industry. They are bred for the production of meat, fat, milk, leather, wool, feathers and down, eggs. A person receives honey, wax, medicines from bees; He brought out the species of pond fish, learned how to reproduce silk in huge quantities.

Mankind uses some species of wild animals for biological control of various pests. In this case, we can not say that he domesticated them, but people deliberately plant ladybirds and predatory mites to fight aphids and bloodsucking insects.

Why pets are needed

The role of animals in human life is not limited only to material benefits. As children of nature, we all need communication with living beings who are able to give us their love and devotion, entertain and reassure, make our home beautiful and cozy. And if initially cats and dogs were planted in the house purely for practical purposes, then fish, birds, hamsters, insects and reptiles serve the only purpose - to entertain their owners and decorate the home.

Doctors pay attention to the fact that communication with pets helps normalize cardiovascular activity, relieves stress and nervous tension after a long day of work. Communication with horses and dolphins formed the basis of therapy for many diseases in children.

Animals-pests

But there is also a negative role of animals in human life. First and foremost, these are parasites that cause various diseases of people. Helminths, protozoa - causative agents of blood diseases, flies, mosquitoes and mites, fleas and lice. Most of them do harm not only because they themselves parasitize on a person, but also carry the pathogens of other infections.

Also, animals are pests of agriculture. Insects attacking crops; Rodents that damage trees and spoil the products of plant growing and meat industry - all of them are an example that reflects the negative significance of animals in human life.

In nature, there are poisonous animals that can cause harm to humans: snakes, insects, marine life. But we can not say that such manifestations are harmful to nature as a whole. The world around us does not contain anything superfluous and harmful. A large army of "pests" performs a certain function in a well-established natural mechanism. Remove one link - and the chain will break, balance will break, the consequences will be the most sad. How many times in the history of the relationship between man and nature there have been similar events.

The situation of animals in the modern world

Mastering the surrounding world, subordinating it to their needs, humanity causes irreparable harm to the Earth and its inhabitants. By cutting down forests, plowing up virgin land, draining swamps and carrying civilization to the farthest corners of the planet, a person deprives animals of their habitat. The importance of animals in human life is enormous, that is why governments and international public organizations are developing a whole range of measures aimed at preserving rare species, raising the ecology of industrial production, conserving natural resources.
