How to see hidden folders and why?

Until recently, an ordinary user rarely encountered the need to see hidden folders and other documents, since the "hidden" attribute was assigned to system files that were thus protected from accidental deletion or modification. However, recently the situation has changed. This is due to the spread of the computer virus, with the "help" which folders and other user documents can become invisible. Instead, shortcuts appear or simply create the appearance of empty disk space.

The emergence of such situations often causes stressful situations when, for example, the user can not display photos from the rest, being on the "flash drive". However, the presence of data on a seemingly empty media can be checked by right-clicking and selecting the "services" section in the context menu that will show that the selected object (for example, USB-drive) contains information, although it looks empty. Very often, victims are removable USB drives, as well as memory cards for cameras, video cameras, etc.

For the computer to see hidden files and folders again, or at least to gain access to them, you can go several ways. The easiest way is to go to the control panel and find there "Folder Options" for the Win XP operating system or "folder settings" if you want to see hidden Win 7 folders. In the appeared menu, select the "view" tab and move the slider located on the right, In the bottom. There you will need to make an active option, which is called - "show hidden files and folders." After that, previously unseen documents and folders will be available for use.

The second way, through which you can again make hidden folders and other documents visible, is done through editing the Windows registry. To do this, select "Run" in the "Start" menu. Then enter "regedit" and confirm with "Enter". In the opened registry window, you need to find HKEY _ CURRENT _USER \ Software ... \ Explorer \ Advance.

Next, you need to find "Hidden" and click the "Edit" button through the right button. In order for hidden folders and other documents to become visible again, you must assign the value of parameter "1", and to make reverse changes, enter the value "0". Confirmation of the carried out actions occurs by pressing the button "Ok". After that, you should close the Registry Editor window so that the changes you have made take effect. You do not need to restart the computer .

As a result of these simple actions, which will not cause difficulties even for the novice user, you can return control over the information recorded on the disk. Sometimes hidden folders and other documents can not be made visible again in normal mode, but at least the user gets access to the data that they store. All information can be processed in the usual way, it can be cut, copied, moved, etc.

After the necessary information is saved, you can advise again to make hidden documents invisible. This is necessary to protect the operating system from accidental impact on important system files, without which the work will go wrong or even stop.
