How to restore the battery for a laptop or car

Often there are situations in which people after a relatively brief use of the laptop begin to wonder how to restore the battery. The reason is that in the course of continuous use the laptop's battery gradually loses its charge, and after a while it starts to "sit down" very quickly. In this case, many are sent to the store in order to buy a new one. However, this is not necessary. After all, it is now known how to restore the battery. Time will take a little more, but it will allow you to save money.

Before you restore the laptop battery , you need to figure out what type it is. Most often use lithium-ion and nickel-metal hydride batteries. To which type your item directly relates, you can read on its body (Li-ion, NiMh).

Start the process of recovery from the disassembly of the batteries. Most often, they do not have demountable structures, so it's necessary to carefully separate the case from the two parts using a knife. It is important not to damage internal elements. Then determine the nominal voltage of the battery. If it is nickel-metal hydride, you need to multiply the number of its elements by 1.2 V. After that, using a multimeter, we measure the voltage at the outermost terminals of a group of elements that have a serial connection (a light bulb from the car should be connected to the load). If the device displays a voltage equal to the nominal, but the laptop does not turn on, then the battery controller is faulty. If the voltage is less than necessary, then we measure it on each individual element. Then, in turn, we completely empty each element, connecting the light bulb. Then we charge using a car light bulb and a laptop power supply. Sequentially we connect a light bulb and a power supply to the elements, we wait for each voltage element to become 1.1 V, after which we connect the staff device for charging. Such actions on the discharge-charge are done three times and we check the operation of the battery in the laptop. If everything you have done does not help and the battery does not "come to life", then the purchase of a new one is inevitable.

Before you tell how to restore the lithium-ion battery, it is worth noting that this type requires special care when repairing. The principle of checking the voltage is similar to the previous one, but it should reach 3.7-4.1 V in each cell. On the terminals we measure the voltage with the load of a car bulb. 3.7 V multiply by the number of elements. Compare the results. If they are equal, it is necessary to repair the controller. If the total voltage is less than the proper level, we pass to its measurement on each individual element. Before measuring, parallel units should be divided and the controller battery should be decoupled. We identify non-working items and change them to serviceable ones. Before assembling and connecting elements, they must be discharged. You can also do this with a car bulb. After the battery has been repaired, it is necessary to reassemble its case, gluing it for reliability.

Sometimes a similar situation occurs with the car. The battery "fails" time after time, but there is no money for the new money yet. In this case it will be useful to know how to restore the car battery. The reason for its failure is most often a decrease in capacity, which occurred as a result of prolonged discharge. In such a situation, a long discharge-charging cycle helps. To do this, drain the old electrolyte and rinse the battery with distilled water. Then it is necessary to dilute desulphating additive with electrolyte and to fill in the accumulator. When these steps are completed, connect the charger in the automatic mode of the charge-discharge cycle until the voltage is increased to 14 V. After that, perform the charging cycle to the rated voltage. The battery is ready for use.
