Homeliness, Do it yourself
How to not only make wooden sandboxes by your own hands, but also protect them
Wooden sandboxes - a long and indispensable attribute of any more or less equipped urban courtyard, and even more so - a children's playground. An inexhaustible source for the games and creativity of toddlers-kindergartners and even younger schoolchildren. But, alas, for many years now they need protection. From whom - read below.
Of course, this design can and buy, and it will cost inexpensively. But, firstly, if you can save, why not? And secondly, the standard sandboxes are usually quite small. And if the size of the country plot allows, you can build a small sandy country for the children.
You'll see for yourself that wooden sandboxes are being built quickly, fun, and even with a song (if you know the right one). You will need wooden boards 30-40 mm thick, nails or screws, hammer or screwdriver, respectively, shovel, oil paint. Do not forget the fantasy.
The size of the future sandbox you already know. Now on the place chosen for it it is necessary to mark out the site a little more in width. From the outlined rectangle, the upper soil layer is removed. In the corners for the racks, you need to dig holes with a depth of 35-40 cm.
The box is going: the racks are nailed in pairs to opposite shields (the upper edges of the pillars and boards must be level); Shields are fastened together by nails or screws; Racks fall into pits and are filled with earth. The design should stand firmly.
Do not be too lazy to fill the bottom of the sandbox with very little cement mortar. When the time comes to change the sand, you will do it easily and quickly.
And now - about the sad. A rare mother will let her child play in the yard sandbox, without thinking how many dogs and cats she used before. Owners of lovely home balls and mugs also often come back for a free sand in exchange for a purchase filler. So wooden sandboxes in yards, alas, need to be protected.
We select wooden boards of the same thickness as for the sandbox in such a way that along the length they slightly overlap the width. Determine how many boards will be required on the cover, completely covering the children's "economy" from above. Then attach the top two boards on top. Children will get comfortable benches, and the design - additional rigidity. To the other boards from the opposite side, we nail two blocks so that a solid shield is formed, without any distortions, but close enough to the sandbox. Do not forget to round the sharp corners and the benches, and the shield. Of course, paint them and provide fun drawings.
I would like to see such wooden sandboxes everywhere. In any case, until all the stray animals find their caring owners, too conscientious for nightly stealing sand from the children.
